Alfred Hitchcock
1889 - 1980
Hitchcock was an amazingly innovative director who elevated film to a new level.
"The paperback is very interesting but I find it will never replace the hardcover book - it makes a very poor doorstop."
"In films, murders are always very clean. I show how difficult it is and what a messy thing it is to kill a man."
FRANCOIS TRUFFAUT (right) wrote an excellent book consisting mostly of interviews called "HITCHCOCK."
"The length of a film should be directly related to the endurance of the human bladder."
Also, check out my page on Hitchcock's television show, "ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS."
POSTSCRIPT
"In a novel, the hero can lay ten girls and marry a virgin for the finish. In a movie, that is not allowed. The villain can lay anybody he wants, have as much fun as he wants cheating, stealing, getting rich, and whipping servants. But you have to shoot him in the end."
