Top10 Try-out Tips!
10.) Remember that you can make the squad. Having an attitude that you'll never make it, won't help you at all. Whether you say you can or you can't, you're right.
9.) On the day of try-outs, don't drink milk or eat cheese,or any other dairy product. Dairy products coat your throat making it harder for you to have a clear loud voice!
8.) Work on your techniques now! That's right. Get up right now and work on the motions and jumps! Just Kidding. But when you have time, in your room, or when you are by yourself, work on your arm motions in a mirror and work on your jumps. This way you'll be extra prepared and you'll have an advantage over other girls.
7.) Go to all of the try-out practices. Usually, former cheerleaders come to help teach the material and they can be really helpful. They understand what it is like to try-out, and they are most likely to be very helpful. Knowing your stuff will show through to the judges.
6.) Be presentable. Wear school colors! Ribbons in your hair, shoe laces, t-shirt, shorts can all be your school colors. Remember, you won't look like a dork. Judges love someone who cares about their school.
5.) Address your crowd. When you are yelling "yell it louder now", YOU are telling these judges to yell it. So, look at them straight in the eyes,(of course smiling) and TELL THEM TO YELL IT. This confidence is great and impresses a lot of people. Also, it shows that you are a leader.
4.) Okay, this is getting specific, but this will separate you from a lot of girls. Let's take this cheer for example "Yell it , louder , now, LETS GO PIRATES!" You'll repeat this several times, so in between these repeats, quickly, tell these judges to "yell with me" or "come on!" This is great! The judges love this.
3.) Hit the crowd* when entering the stage, exiting the stage, and after the cheers. Again this separates you from many other girls.

* Hitting the crowd means to yell "Go Pirates!" "Let's go , big Red!" stuff like that while doing sparatic arm motions and/or kicks to promote spirit.
2.) Be loud. You can't expect to lead cheers when a few people can't even hear you. A loud voice impresses the judges and gets you a high score!
1.) Smile with confidence. You know your stuff and worked hard, so just show those judges what you've got.
