In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Atticus Finch could often be found reading the newspaper.  Scout would sit on his lap every night and read along with him, whether the article was bills to be enacted into law or the diaries of Lorenzo Dow.  He was usually reading The Mobile Register, Mobile Press, The Montgomery Advertiser, or The Birmingham News, but Maycomb's newspaper was The Maycomb Tribune.  The Grit Paper was also circulated with the less educated folks of the county and was brought to the current events period in Scout's class.
