WHATZITOOYAH...HUH??? 

Ya know??? I never realized how special Canarsie was until I found so many websites and home-pages devoted to such an unlikely place as that SWAMP we called HOME!!! A simple search brings MOUNTAINS of information not only on Canarsie but Brooklyn in general. No other neighborhood seems to invoke such nostalgia from so many people. You can go ANYWHERE in the world and STILL recognize a fellow Brooklynite after talking with them for just a few minutes. And the bond seems to be instantaneous, always trying to find out some news of the old neighborhood or linking mutual acquaintances.

I didn't realize how amazing a place it was until many years later. I think back on my time there fondly...it's was an atmosphere that can NEVER be duplicated... and judging from all the websites, it seems that it was many things to many people. The common thread is that EVERYONE seems to miss it as much as I do.

My fondest memories seem to always involve Music.  There were bands all over the place and NEVER a shortage of people to jam with.  Click the link.. you'll get a kick out of it.

My favorite hangout (among so many) was 211 Park... LOVED to play handball there

And of course Ruby the Knishman was never very far away...   (yes, it was me that took this immortal shot, damn I should have copywritten it)
