The Pooh Workout Program

Oh bother, exercise time again

Hows that tumbly?? Starting to look a little like Pooh's you say?? Hmm...well..bears don't have to worry about cholesterol...but humans do (even though Pooh is a honorary human to all of us!)!! So...lets work on hat tumbly! Pooh style!! Just follow Pooh's instructions and recommendations...and we'll have you trim in no time!! Please don't forget..that this is all from Pooh's Little Fitness Book inspired by A. A. Milne, and illustrated by Ernest H. Shepard. This is not for commercial use. Ok!! Lets exercise Pooh style!!

Stretching!

For a pleasant sort of stretching....sing along: Tra-la-la, tra-la-la. Now stretch to the ceiling...and back down to your toes!! Good job...now...if your the Lazy kind, or if you just don't want to stretch....here are some alternative ways of stretching! If you're visiting a friends home..but your to small to touch the doorbell, stretch with one arm to reach it! Then make sure you do that with the other arm repeating as needed. Make sure you don't stretch to much...that could strain your arms...we wouldn't like that cause your arms might hurt to much to eat honey!! That would be awful!

Cross-Training!

Sounds complicated doesn't it?? Well...just like when Owl (Wol) told us that Crustinmoney proseedcake meant: The thing to Do...Cross training is just a fancy word for..Walking! You can walk to a friends house (Pooh's or Piglet's!), or walk up to a secluded place on a most blusterious day! You can walk and think of poems or songs...or you can just walk and hum to yourself!! Walk with a friend..."Besides, its so much more friendly with two." CHRISTOPHER ROBIN'S
WALKING TIP!: "To make a walk especially exciting, pull on your Big Boots, invite everybody, and call it an Expedition. (Don’t' forget to bring Provisions.)"

Tree Climbing!

The most important thing about Tree Climbing is that you are very Careful!! "Even the most experienced climbers risk a Very Bad Accident if a branch breaks." Make sure that you climb very slowly...no matter how much you would like to get where-ever on the tree you are going! Make sure you don't climb up...and or onto a thin branch..this could result in a Very Bad Accident......
TIGGER'S TREE-CLIMBING TIP:"IF your a Tigger, keep in mind that you can only climb upward, not downward, or your tail will get in the way. Try to remember this before reaching the top of a tree."

Swimming!

"Aquatic exercise is a delightful way to tone and strengthen muscles and can be enjoyed by anyone--which is not to say, however, that everyone will enjoy it." Make sure you always swim with a friend...or 3 friends..or 4...etc...this is just a safety procedure!! What would've happened if Pooh hadn't been rescued bye Kanga and Owl?? No more Pooh!! So make sure you use a buddy! Don’t swim to long in cold water!! Your tail might get numb!
EEYORE'S SWIMMING TIP:"Learn to dive as well as swim. Otherwise, you may not be able to avoid being struck heavily on the chest by large stones that somebody may drop on you."

Aerobics

"Several--though by no means all--of the residents of the Hundred Acre Wood do aerobic activities quite regularly."
Jumping!!
It may seem like its all fun...but Jumping is an aerobic exercise! However.. "Jumping does not come naturally to some (such as Kanga) as it does to others (Such as Rabbit)." Jumping everyday will help you!! For example...you can jump on your haycorns right after you've planted them! Make sure you don't go jumping barefoot!! Or you might just step on one of Eeyore's thisltles..ouch!
Then there's Bouncing:
That comes naturally to all Tiggers (even though there's only one). Bouncing and Jumping is confused sometimes...but they are two different things!! Bouncing is really an "expression of exuberance and a natural state of being--for some." Eat a healthy meal before bouncing...bouncing on a empty stomach means no fun in bouncing! Don't over-due the bouncing..then it will be known merely as an "annoyance" than "bouncing".
Now...we come to Running:
"Running is among the most strenuous of aerobic activities. That is probably why it is practiced infrequently by Pooh and his friends. Nonetheless, running provides an excellent workout (and a good way of ensuring that one is not late for tea)." Watch your step while running...or you could step into a mouse or rabbit hole and fall....Don't run toooo fast...because then you can't enjoy what is around you.... "a trot , skip, or hoppity-hop is sufficient."
EEYORE'S RUNNING TIP:"Don't."

Workouts for Problem Areas

Waist and tummy:
Fir-cone and stick gathering... This will trim your waist and tighten your tumbly...do this about a dozen times so you have enough Poohsticks for a game after all of this hard work!
Arms, Chest, and Shoulders:
Digging!!! This is wonderful because it strengthens your muscles... and while digging you just might Accomplish Something, like making a "Cunning Trap for Heffalumps."
A full body workout:
Carrying a jar of honey!! "Lifting the jar above your shoulders is an effective way to tone your arms (or, of course, to lighten the jar). Stoutness Exercise:This is one of Pooh's best exercises..although it might not be quite as enjoyable as lifting honey!
POOH'S STOUTNESS-EXERCISE TIP: “Sometimes, during exercise, a Hum may come into your head. Wait for it patiently, and remember that hums aren't things which you get, they're things which get you."

Cooling Down

"Just as the body needs to warm up before a workout, it needs to cool down afterward. Like many residents of the Hundred Acre Wood, you may find that this is the most enjoyable part of your fitness regimen."
Dandelion Blowing:
"While holding a dandelion, inhale slowly and deeply, then exhale slowly but forcefully, trying to blow away as many of the dandelion's seeds as possible."
Deep Breathing:
"Find a comfortable spot to sit, close your eyes, and breathe slowly and deeply. Listening to the sounds of the Forest or singing a little Hum while you cool down encourages total muscle relaxation."
POOH'S POST-WORKOUT TIP:"The best way to revive yourself after exercise-or any other activity-is by having a little smackerel of something with your friends."

Congratulations!!! You've made it!! All of us here at the Pooh Page thank you for trimming up your tumbly (and other parts of your body) with us!! It was quite enjoyable!! Just make sure you trim up everyday to stay in shape!! Please remember..that Pooh and his friends are not responsible for any injury that you might have experienced during your Exercise......Pooh's had his share of Very Bad Accidents.
