I'm now 21 and I've away recently but it's nice to know that I can come back and still have all my great friends here...

In our (completely unbiased) opinion we live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Alberta is known for lots of things, especially for it's vast natural resources. We have one natural resource though that absolutely must be mentioned, and that's the people. Albertans are friendly, and wherever you go, you feel like you're coming home to your own small town. Mostly though, Alberta is just beautiful. From astonishingly flat prairies in the east that turn into rolling foothills and then the Rocky Mountains on the west, lush forests in the north and desert in the south, there's not much that we don't have! In the winter we have world-class skiing (both downhill and cross-country), and ski resorts near Banff and Jasper hold many ski races throughout the season, including some of the World Cup events. In the summer there are always a rodeo somewhere, and thousands of beautiful places to go walking or hiking.

Calgary hosted the 1988 Winter Olympics and in 1997 the World Police/Fire Games. Drumheller is in the desert area to the south, and it's a giant treasure chest of dinosaur bones and other fossils.

Calgary is also the hub of much of the oil industry in Western Canada and for Canada on the whole. In a sense... it is like a small Texas with it's oil activity.

We also have the Calgary Flames and Stampeders, professional hockey and football teams respectively that add to the highlights of our famous Stampede City. A little north there are also the Edmonton Oilers (hockey) and Eskimos(football). The Calgary Stampede is and has been a well known world event where many come to enjoy ten days of festivities and western fun.

A dream is a wish your heart makes.
