This page is my visual entertainment page; by 'visual
entertainment,' I mean the ways to be entertained by watching things
on some sort of screen. If you are wondering, my other favorite forms
of entertainment are primarily theater and literature. Maybe I'll get
some kind of page for those eventually... Maybe not.
For now, I can only tell you what and whom I like with just a few
links. I will be on AltaVista,
Yahoo!, and
Excite search engines to see if any of these people or shows has
a web page. In the meantime, just use this page to learn about me. :)
Movies
I love to go the movies, although lately I haven't had
much time to. Last night I saw a movie I have been dying to see since
I saw the first commercial. If you have been to my home page, you
probably guessed that it is
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S ROMEO AND JULIET, and you would be right.
Claire Danes is one of the greatest human beings to ever live. And
Shakespeare is one of my favorite playwrights. I really enjoyed it,
too.
But I would have to say that, when it comes to movies, for me, the
older the better. In this area, I really like such shows as TO SIR
WITH LOVE, TAMMY AND THE BACHELOR, MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON, and
GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER.
TV
I haven't been able to find many TV web pages, so this
section is mainly just for reading. One of my favorite television shows
ever was MY SO-
CALLED LIFE. That show was the most realistic portrayal of
teenage life I have ever seen. Unlike shows like 90210, BLOSSOM,
MOESHA, and those kind of shows that aren't even worth watching, MSCL
was real; sometimes things are good, sometimes things are depressing,
and sometimes things just don't make sense, and nothing demonstrated
that like MY SO-CALLED LIFE. The other shows try to make teenagers
out to be these people that rap, speak in slang, and dress in 'hop-hop'
style clothing. Not MSCL. The best part was that I felt I could relate
with -every- character, from Angela to Jordan, from Rayanne to Ricky,
and even with Angela's parents and family! But enough about MY SO-
CALLED LIFE. Other TV shows that I must watch every week are FRIENDS,
X-FILES, SEINFELD, and THIRD ROCK FROM THE SUN. THE SIMPSONS is
pretty funny, too!! Oh, and I ought to cover old TV shows, too, like
I did with movies, since many of the shows from the '50s, '60s, and
'70s rank among my favorites. In this genre, I am a big fan of LAUGH-
IN, THE BRADY BUNCH, LEAVE IT TO BEAVER, and THE MONKEES. Sometimes I
feel I was born in the wrong generation.
Actors/Actresses
I think I am just going to have to list the actors and
actresses I like, so here goes, in only a slightly particular order:
Claire Danes, Alicia Silverstone, Debby Reynolds, Sidney Poitier,
Kathrine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson,
Coutney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt
LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, Helen Hunt, Paul Reiser, and, well, the list
goes on.... Okay, I am sure we are all glad to get that over with. :)
Some of my other favorite modern movies include THE BRADY BUNCH MOVIE and CLUELESS.
