Thank you for entering the UIS. Undoubtedly, other Mafia-related sites are more visually interesting than mine, but unfortunately, I don't have the time to spend on making this site better-looking.

So instead, what I've chosen to do is lay out a few interesting things about the Mafia, and then leave the rest open for questions. Maybe you'll see something on my page that'll spark your interest. Or, there might just be something you're curious about. Feel free to contact me. Find out how in the Do your own investigating... section a little further down the page.

People always ask me why I would bother to learn about a bunch of thugs and criminals. I happen to be a fan of 1920s and 30s American culture. And the Mafia was a huge part of that, whether you want to admit it or not.

Don't get me wrong, though. I am not pro-Mafia and I don't for a second condone the types of activities the mob is into. Organized crime is a very fascinating yet appalling subject, and I've simply chosen to present it here for you.

Do your own investigating...

You know, the mafia makes a good topic for a research paper, and I'd be glad to help you out with any information you might need. Just e-mail me and I'll hopefully be able to tell you anything you want to know.

If you do ask something, PLEASE BE SPECIFIC! Doing a paper on the Mafia in general would be a monumental undertaking and probably can't be done in a three, five, or even 10-page report. So narrow your topic down.

One other thing: I've been getting some questions about other ethic "Mafias," like Greeks or Hispanics and Asians. Personally, I don't include them as part of the Mafia (that is, in the true sense of the word), so unfortunately, I don't know enough about any of those other organized crime factions to develop intelligent responses to questions regarding them. I may be able to tell you where to look, though. Also, please read the Mafia FAQ list before writing.
