Hello! and welcome to our collection of poetry. The first section that we present will be original poetry by yours truely, Hopegiver. The second section will be selected poetry from various sources which Dancing Wolfe and I want to share with our visitors including the select rare gems of Dancing Wolfe herself.You can click on the title for SECTION II to go directly to that page.

of how I got inspired to compose each of these poems.
The first 8 poems are dedicated to my wife Dancing Wolfe....:-)
The rest are other original poems of my creation.

Smile Song(My wife's smile carries me through each day. One day, while on the way home, I realized that others can tell that I'm happily in love by the smile on my face.Then these words came to me.)
The Kiss(I won't get too personal here, just enough to say that her kiss always brings me home.)
At The End(I'm not one to think about dying at an early age, but when my time comes I know that I will have had the best in life.)
Dulce Amor(This is my very first poem in Spanish. I wanted to combine the beauty of my native tongue with the beauty of my wife.)
Hidden Man(A breakthrough in my life, which my wife played a significant role in, inspired me to put into words these feelings.)
Forever Yours(This poem was written shortly before we got married. It encompasses a lot of the emotions that I felt,feel,and always will feel for my wife.)
Lightning(Inspired shortly after a storm that kind of characterizes the way we met.)
What Do I Know? * Added 3/9/99 *(I wrote this poem for my wife because I don't know much about life, but I know I love her.)
Daddy * Added 4/21/00 *(I wrote this poem in honor of the pending arrival of our child.)

A Feeling(One of the first poems I ever wrote. Inspired back in 1983, when I was in Junior High school and became infatuated with this unattainable girl. So, we were just friends.)
Take a Look(Sometime during high school I began to write more and more poetry. I do not have all of my originals, but this is one of the few that have not been lost, stolen, or destroyed.)
A Thought About Love(After a high school break-up, I was inspired to write about the one thing I didn't have at the time.)
The Storm(Sometime in Late 1994, after dealing with some serious problems, my very first step towards recovery came with this poem as I walked in the middle of a storm.)
More Than Just Thank You(Written after a disheartening break-up, a good friend encouraged me to start writing again and just be myself.)
Discover(While on campus at the university this year (1998), I noticed a couple who were walking a short distance from one another and it caused me to think of my wife. I wrote this poem for them, and in the spirit of happiness, though I never met them.)
His Surrender(This is a poem that I wrote one night after chatting with an internet friend who was waiting for her boyfriend to pop the big question),
New Beginning(The same night I wrote "His Surrender", I went home and thought of this poem to accompany it.)
Miss You(A poem which draws up a lot of sorrow for me. I lost a friend to the AIDS virus about 4 years ago, and I wanted to share my memory of him with others.)
Naturally Lost(A free prose poem which has meaning, but not rhyme. What do you think it's about?)
Detour(This one was inspired by an actual event while out running errands)
We Love You Luna(A poem inspired by our cat Luna, she is a real gem!)

Smile Song ©
I have to smile when I think about, how much you must love me.
For all the wonderful things you say, and all the things I see.
Being with you fills me with joy and causes my heart to race.
And all can tell how much we share, by the smile upon my face.
When you take my face in your soft hands, and speak with only eyes.
It makes me smile and I believe that your words are never lies.
Gentle caress, my lips touching you, and your smile lets me know.
That what we share is honesty and not just a public show.
Laughing or crying, in crowds or alone, the bond we have is strong.
Smiles are what this love is about, and the world can hear my song!

There was beautiful passion when we were together, my heart skipped a beat or two.
Holding on to your laughter now, I can't get enough of you.
How many times, your head on my shoulder, you've taken my breath away.
How many times we've cuddled until dawn, and slept through the rainy days.
Ever searching for all of life's answers, it comes as no suprise.
I was always walking on sunshine with you, and drifting in rainbow skies.
Please do not cry for me when I'm gone, for you'll surely know deep inside.
That your love gave me life,dreams, & hope, while the world just rushed on by.
One life is what we have to live, it must end like all good things.
But, I'll rest in heavenly peace because I've lived a lifetime's dreams.

Mi vida es un deceo hecho realidad y cada dia que pasa es mejor.
Porque soy muy feliz, con mi corazon lleno de tu amor.
Yo miro mi destino en tus ojos y mis suenos son tuyos.
No puedo pensar en nada mas cuando te tengo junto a mi.
Tu sonrisa me da energia y tus brazos me dan poder.

Hidden Man ©
Father abandoned me early, I hid when I cried.
Standing on top of the world, yet never satisfied.
Mother always loved me, and tried to understand.
But, she was unable to find the hidden man.
Life so demanding, I feel that I work with no reward.
Food, shelter, even love, whatever I can afford.
Things turned around for me, the day I met you.
The water's never been cooler nor looked quite so blue.
Time heals all wounds, and I've allowed time to start.
You've helped me collect the pieces, to mend my broken heart.
Now I am completely whole, and able to really give.
Because the hidden man was found, and now I can begin to live.

Lightning ©
Among the clouds of people, I saw her dancing along.
I wasn't sure I'd encounter her,though she actually lit up my life.
As I walked in the hard rain she peeked at me, and I believe she winked a time or two.
Then as the cold rain began to stop and I peered ahead through the fine mist, she struck!
It may not have been her plan, but the attraction was undeniable.
Her touch was warm and inspiring.
Now I only feel soft rain and the rainbows of her smile which follows.

What Do I Know©
I don't understand why the rain falls like it does, but I know I like dancing in it with you.
I'm not quite sure if I've seen all the colors of the rainbow, but I know they look good on you.
Exactly how mother nature grows things is not my specialty, but I know how to grow with you.
I can't say why clouds float so high but appear just out of reach, I only know to reach for you.
Just why sunsets are beautiful is beyond me, but I know that your beauty is what makes my day end well.
So, of all the knowledge past and yet to come, knowing that I love you is enough to make me complete.

Daddy©
I'm going to be a daddy, yes a father, that's right.
This marks a new place I've never been in my life.
I'm confident and ready to teach all that I can,
also anxious, excited, and quite a nervous man.
When he's placed into my arms, then I will unwind,
as I look into his eyes and know calm peace of mind.
I've seen his heart beating and dreamt of him here.
I 've felt him kick mommy and I know the time is near.
As the weeks quickly pass, I mark off the days,
and rush to tell everyone that he is on his way.
A beautiful new horizon dawns as I patiently wait.
I'm going to be a daddy, and it feels truly great!

I wish that I could tell you, exactly how I feel.
Is this some kind of dream, or can this feeling be for real?
Sometimes I think about you, and I wish that you were there.
Then I could tell you face to face, how much I really care.
I hope I'm not too forward, but I have to let you know,
that I'm feeling something special, and I want to let it show.
I thought that we could be good friends, but that will never do.
'Cause now I've gone and messed it up, and fell in love with you.

A Thought About Love ©
One night while I was feeling blue, a thought came to my mind.
The thought that love is sometimes true, as well as sweet and kind.
Imagine a love as true and whole, as a pebble upon the beach.
So exciting, it fills your very soul, and nothing's out of reach.
True love puts a sparkle in your eye, and joy into your day.
You feel like you will never cry, and your worries fade away.
The next time you are thinking of love, and need to feel renewed,
remember the words written above, a love is sometimes true.

The Storm ©

Clouds move over a moonlit sky, and the rain begins to fall.
The drops that fall on my face are cool, and do not bother me at all.
Standing alone and feeling the wind blowing at my back.
The lightning strikes in the distance, with the sound of a thunder crack.
The storm is moving closer now, flowing over this space.
The rush of whirling wind and rain, will not move me from my place.
Soon this storm will blow on by, and leave only a memory.
The sun will shine through the clouds again, to help me clearly see.
When problems storm in our life, we must always stand and cope.
For they will pass, wait and see, and give us a new hope.

Thank you so much, for letting me be my complete self, happy and free.
You guided me through a half open door, which I hadn't noticed I'd been through before.
To give of myself is a gift that I have, it fills me with joy to make people laugh.
With all of the love that I have to give, you took it and showed me why I still live.
There's also my passion and burning desire, which you unleashed, unchained, and set upon fire.
Your strengh is something I share when I see, your certain sweet smile that I take with me.
Thank you again for the time that you took, to help me continue this on going book.
I know now that the future's not set, so more than just thank you , I'll never forget!

Discover ©

Alone in a crowd, so much to say. Feeling so sad this beautiful day.
Racing with thoughts,screaming inside. Heart pounding fast, wanting to hide.
Then she walks by, a glow on her face. Everything stops, frozen in place.
I open my mouth, but nothing I say. She turns on her heel and glances my way.
My words will not form, as hard as I try. She steps towards me, and then she says "Hi".
Finally I speak, and we talk on for hours. We walk by the pond, and I pick her some flowers.
No longer alone, I've found a good friend. And we will be happy from now 'till the end.

Wiping the tears from his eyes he stands,
upon the moonlit shore.
His heart is heavy with emotion,
he just can't take anymore.
He slowly turns to her in silence,
only the sound of the waving sea.
Takes her hand, and clears his throat,

Laying in the springtime grass, as clouds float gently by.
Wondering why you had to go, left asking myself "Why?"
Are you here? Are you there? Tell me what will we keep?
Has all the work indeed paid off? Or will we only sleep?
It wasn't fair the way you left, after what you had endured.
You were quickly called away from us, by a sickness without a cure.
It's hard to believe you were just here, now that you're gone from sight.
But, you will never be forgotten as long as we keep your light.
Missing you a lot lately, your laughter fills my mind.
Precious memories of you are with me for all time.

Through the night, at our feet your purr is a song.
In the morning you wake and stretch right along.
Next you sharpen your claws to strip off the old.
A loud firm meow reminds us to fill your bowl.
What is it that you do by yourself all day?
Clean your paws, catnap, eat, and play?
Does that mouse move on it's own when we're gone?
I bet you claw it up even more when you're alone.
When we come home another meow greets our ears.
Your eyes sparkle like jewels, to us they sing cheers.
Did you miss us? Well we missed you too.
A cat we truly love for the kitty things you do.

Terminal Gateway©
Through the gateway it ascended into this world of prey and light.
Seeking whom it might rip of innocence, of virtue, of life.
Swiftly it made it's way across this once abudant and fertile land.
Reaping the lives of all who occupied the sky, the sea, and sand.
With crimson fangs of steel and ebony eyes, it tore into to each soul.
The victims having one last vision of darkness, of terror, and cold.
Blood stains drying on it's face death reeking from it's jaws.
None could escape the might of it's wings nor the fury of it's razored claws.
It finally returned from whence it came with not a single sound.
And as the gateway slowly closed the last human slumped to the ground.

City lights, gunfire, there's a demon in the sky.
Waterfalls, Queen of hearts, pleasure in the mind's eye.
Continents, long journeys, defender of the faith.
One-eyed monster, moving car, walking down the hallways of life.
With limbs as strong as cement bars, life cradles us high in the trees above.
Until the mysterious cloaked lumberjack decides to chop our love.
The treasure you hold so dear is gone, and you begin to live.

He went away to Fresno, with him he took my heart.
I can't believe he's gone away, it hurts to be apart.
Even though I'll be with him soon, time seems to pass so slow.
I'd rather be there in Fresno, than in Houston feeling low.
Before we were engaged, he liked to take his time.
Then a kiss, a ring, a notice to dad, and I knew that he was mine.
A few more months of dreaming, and I will hold him near.
Until that day arrives, take care, and know I love you dear.

Liquid Vision©
Dreamy-eyed, I see into the sea before me.
A sinking boat, an island in Asian waters, lovely.
Golden rays of light cause me to squint and almost miss,
the abundant multi-colored stripes overhead, and the flying fish.
Palm trees sway, time marches on, a rainbow comes and goes.
Bubbles appear, something's coming, is it friends or foes?
The picture begins to fade and my heart pounds faster and faster.
Suddenly I awake and realize, that my liquid vision is not my master.

Blackness,Dispair, with no way out.
Ther I was, alone in a dark world of pain.
Lost, Broken, with no dream tomorrow.
I cried till no more tears would fall.
Just as it seemed the end was near,
I blinked my eyes and saw the light.
I faced my fear, I took control,
and moved to strength with self esteem.
Bright, Hopeful, with a great many choices.
Here I am, secure in a sunshine world.
Confident, Whole, with goals on the horizon.
No more tears, I stand tall.
