A person CANNOT contract the HIV virus by hugging, kissing,
sharing coffee, forks, plates, toilets, apartments, classrooms, office space,
friends, by holding hands, caring for, or being a friend to someone who is
HIV+ or has been diagnosed with AIDS.

Many people say that wearing an AIDS Ribbon is not enough. I agree. We need to do more to stop the spread of this disease. However, every time someone sees an AIDS Ribbon it forces them for one second to stop and think about HIV and AIDS. I wear a ribbon everywhere I go and am always asked why I wear it. In answering these questions I am able to educate people further about the diseases' health, social, ethical, and personal implications. I believe that while an AIDS Ribbon may be a shallow statement for some people that it's better than nothing.
