Leri's Review

STILL ON THE ANIPIKE!!! ^_^

*5/11/02* THIS JUST IN!!! I have been sent a fanfic for this series, and with the author's permission, I am posting it on this website. Click here to read Midnight Goodbyes.

I know I haven't been updating this page very often, but that's mainly due to the fact that there's been nothing new to report about the anime. It seems that they're just not going to release the rest of the series, which means that none of US will ever find out who the writers intended as the Byakuro princess, we won't find out what's really going to happen between Yume and Kaoru, or anything else we really have been dying to find out. So here is what I intend. Send me your opinions, thoughts, fanfics, etc, and I will post them here, giving full credit to yourself. Send them to me at leriholth@yahoo.com and I'll post them as soon as I've reviewed them. I've started to update the page several times over the last year and a half, but every time I really get into it, searching for new information and such, I find there's not much new out there. There are a few more sites listed on the Anipike, but still no new news about the series. I really hope to get a response from fans out there who do have ideas and opinions, and, hopefully fansubs also. I think it would be a real shame to just let this anime drop off.

*1/00 update* Well, there is definitely a growing interest in this anime! This page alone has over a thousand hits now, and there are now more than just the original two pages to choose from on the Anipike! Unfortunately for those coming to look for new stuff, I haven't found much else yet that I want to add to the page. However, I'm still looking when I can, and when I find something, it'll be here. Thanks again for all the people who send me e-mail, asking questions and just wanting to discuss Ninja Mono in general. I enjoy your feedback, and am looking forward to hearing more of your opinions on this delightful work of anime!!

*11/99 update* Wow! Over 700 hits on this page since its inception at the beginning of July! I'm going to chalk this up to the growing popularity of the anime, and not my webpage. I have received a few questions through e-mail regarding episodes beyond the two that have been released in the United States. Since I live in the USA, I have seen no more than the first two, either. Unfortunately. I wish I did have more info beyond the little I know. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the next episodes, as well as you all. Also, since this anime has been released, I cannot send anyone a copy. Nor do I have the time or equipment to sub or dub any tapes. So please, don't ask me to. Other than that, please go ahead and e-mail me! I enjoy getting feedback from people about this series. Thanks for all of your questions, though! It's always good to know that people are interested in fledgling series, and your questions are always welcome, even if I do not have any information at this time. Keep them coming, and if I cannot answer them, I'll forward them to someone I think might know! Sayonara!

This anime was just about perfect for my tastes.  Just the right amount of action, intrigue, magic, and the possibility of romance combined with the relatively small amount of blood and gore that I can safely handle.  Produced by the same people that did Tenchi Muyo, another favorite of mine, A.I.C. and YOUMEX did a great job on this.  The original story and characters are by Eiji Suganuma.

Also known as Ninja Mono, this delightful anime was recently released in the States by AnimeWorks.  I picked it up at the video store on Sunday while browsing for something new.  It looked interesting, and although I was a bit wary of getting something I'd never heard of, I couldn't put it back.  Something about the review on the back made me sure that I'd at least enjoy it.  I brought it home, watched it, and immediately had to find out more about it.  I did a search on Yahoo, and found, basically, nothing.  I went to the Anipike and found two pages.  These two pages are great considering the small amount of info online so far.  There's nem0's Ninja Cadet page and Pochi's Ninja Mono Page.  There you can find basic info on the characters and plot, even the meaning of the names.  Much more than this page has.

So far there aren't a lot of pics online, and the pages I saw had mostly the same or similar ones on them.  Since I don't have access to getting my own pics, you'll just have to put up with a few that I copied off of those pages.  I'm trying to keep this page as quick to load as possible, so I'm only putting up a few.

NEW!!!   Now up - More Pics!  Here's the link you've been eagerly awaiting!

A brief outline of the story:  The Byakuro and Kabusu are two separate and totally different forces.   When the Kabusu ninja attack Byakuro castle in an attempt to capture the Byakuro princess, who is supposed to have great power.  The princess is hidden, and sent to be raised as a ninja, all the time not knowing her true identity.  Years later, a group of six ninja cadets is sent back to Byakuro castle to retrieve magic scrolls to complete their training.  Sakura, Matsuri and Yume are the females of the group, and Pochi, Hayashi, and their instructor Kaoru make up the male half of the ensemble.

The Main Characters:

sakurachar.gif (7635 bytes) This is Sakura, probably the most main character.  It is common belief among fans that she could be the princess.   She's cute and energetic and loves being a ninja.  Probably one of my favorite characters.

pochichar.gif (8320 bytes) Pochi, Sakura's partner on the trip to Byakuro Castle.  From what I can tell, he's very protective of his friends.   Which is a good thing.  Don't judge him on size alone, though.  He's a very good fighter.

matsurichar.gif (8445 bytes) Matsuri.  She and Sakura are generally at odds with one another, but seem to be able to fight as a team when necessary.  Don't think that just because she wears skimpy outfits there's not much to her.  She's as mean as a snake, and would as soon bite your head off than be nice to you.

hayashichar.gif (6378 bytes) Hayashi is very good at making bombs and potions in an instant.  Matsuri's partner on the trip to Byakuro, he's a very nice guy.  He's got an even temper, which makes him a good match for Matsuri's rather explosive nature.

yumechar.gif (7207 bytes) Yume is the soft-spoken character, well liked by all, as much for her gentle nature as her cooking.  She has a professed interest in Kaoru, who doesn't seem to mind at all.

kaoruchar.gif (7883 bytes) Kaoru.  Probably my most favorite character.  Yume's partner on the crusade, and her protector as well.  He's the group's instructor, and the only one who knows the real identity of the Byakuro princess.

Hopefully, someday there will be more than just the first two episodes released in the States.   Until then, I'll keep this up as much as possible with the little information I have.  As I get more, I'll put it up here.  Much thanks to nem0, who's page provided the majority of images.  I've included a link at the bottom of the page right to the main page.  The link above takes you directly to the Ninja Cadets page.
