Helpful Hints:
helping you make your hobby easier and more enjoyable
- The first and most important thing in autograph collecting is having the correct address for the person you are writing to.
- Even if you think you know everything about the celebrity you're writing to,
make sure you research them.
- Timing sometimes is important if that person is currently working a busy schedule and cannot respond to your request in a reasonable amount of time.
- In my opinion, most letters that are sent to celebrities are handled by someone other than the celebrity, so I just have a prototype letter that I send.
- Always send a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope, (SASE) with your letter or most likely you will not get a response.
- Only rely on addresses that are proven successes, Return to Senders (RTS) aren't too fun
- Keep track of who and when you send a request out, this way you can keep your hobby organized.
- Keep a list of celebrities and their addresses of who you want to send letters to.
- Most celebrities provide their own photos, but sports stars usually need something to sign.
- I send a 9x12 envelope, inside of a 9-1/2 x 12-1/2 envelope with "Do Not Bend" on both envelopes so my photo does not get ruined in the mail.
