AZ first appeared on Nas' "Life's A Bitch" with an incredible verse that had people talking about the Visualiza AZ. AZ has been known to spit some hot shit, but he is also known to be very inconsistent bring hot shit then not so hot. With his debut he brings a 13 track album that isn't what people expected. It does have some pretty good stuff though.
AZ does bring some nice material, but his "Life's A Bitch" verse is the best lyrics he's ever layed down. Az gets some pretty good producers for the album. Pete Rock brings two beats that aren't his best work, but keep the head nodding on "Gimme Yours" and "Rather Unique". L.E.S. brings the beats for "Sugar Hill" and the hot remix. "Ho Happy Jackie" is a pretty good tale about a woman only out for money. Az does have a few problems with this album as it is too short and some of the beats are poor like the opening cut "Uncut Raw". Nas shows up on "Mo Money, Mo Murder "Homicide"" a pretty nice track as Nas and AZ show they make a great duo.
Overall AZ's Doe Or Die is an ok debut, but he got caught in the shadow of Nas and didn't make the impact he should of. Doe Or Die is a pretty good effort, but nothing special.
