AZ came back right after The Firm album, which many thought was a flop and made another flop with Pieces Of A Man. Pieces Of A Man is a poorly produced album with many poor choices by a gifted street poet like Nas.
AZ's biggest problem is following Nas' career choices obviously looking for more sales. AZ chooses to make softer songs like "Trading Places" and "Last Dayz" with Monifa. AZ has a few moments that work on this album but not many. He connects with Nature and Half-A-Mil for "Love Is Love" a cool posse-cut. Nas proves he is best paired with AZ on "How Ya Livin'" they trade verses over a beautifully constructed beat by L.E.S.. RZA collaborates with AZ for the disappointing "Whatever Happened (The Birth)". AZ isn't the best man for choruses so he goes without one for "Sosa" and "I'm Known" two of the better songs.
AZ first came into the rap game with his impressive verse on "Life's A Bitch" and he proved he was a great mc. AZ has his moments on this album, but he has too many boring R&Bish beats that don't work for him.
Top 3 Songs:
1. How Ya Livin' w/Nas
2. Sosa
