MethodMan Redman - Blackout!
4 Mics
Production: Redman (5), Erick Sermon (9), Gov Mattic (1), DJ Scratch (1), Rockwilder (1), RZA (2) and Mathematics (2).
Featured Artists: Ja Rule (1), LL Cool J (1), Ghostface Killah (1), Streetlife (1) and Mally G (1).
After many years of appearing on tracks together these two unite to make an album with a resume like "Got My Made Up" with 2Pac and Tha Dogg Pound, "4,3,2,1" with LL Cool J, Canibus and DMX and probably the best song these two will make together "How High" it's no wonder these two are liked so much.
These two do pretty much all the mcing on this album except for three songs letting some of their friends come for the ride. If you haven't heard "Blackout" yet you probably need a hearing aid because this song is banging everywhere. "Mi Casa" has a great beat from Erick Sermon for Meth Tical and Funk Doctor to rip up. Method Man and Redman invite LL Cool J and Ja Rule to each be a season on "4 Seasons" as LL Cool J is starting to sound more and more like he used to. The RZA laces a great beat on "Cereal Killer" as Meth and Redman tell a cool story. Legendary producer DJ Scratch produces "1,2,1,2" the kind of beat you would expect from him. "Run 4 Cover" features Streetlife and Ghostface Killah as all four mc's set the mic on fire over the kind of beat you would of heard on Ironman. "The?" has a tight ass beat from Redman as both mc's pass the mic back and forth. "Dat's Dat Shit" features Mally G aka Jamal aka Lil' Jamal (this guy changes his name lots) ripping a great beat and the duo of Method and Red don't let Mally G steal the show. "Fire Ina Hole" has a really awesome beat and these two shine on it, mostly on the hook chanting "Fire ina hole". You also get "Well All Rite Cha", "Big Dogs" and "How High" which are all great songs. Only on songs like "Y.O.U.", "Da Rockwilder" and "Cheka" does the album fall off. Lots of the songs are good, but not great, but it is worth the money for sure so get it.
Best 3 Songs: I picked two number ones because How High is easily the best but it came out a long time ago.
1. How High and Blackout
2. Fire Ina Hole
3. The?
