Public Enemy - There's A POISON Goin' On
3.5 Mics
Production: N/A
Featured Artists: none
Public Enemy looked like they had fell off with mediocre albums like Muse Sick-N-Hour Mess Age and Chuck D's solo effort. But last years He Got Game was a better album and now There's A POISON Goin' On is even better.
The great thing about this album is that they released it on the internet, which is the first Hip Hop album on the net. Public Enemy has started a new option for up and coming artists to distribute their album through the net. Fans of PE will be happy with their eighth album. "Do You Wanna Go Our Way?" is a high energy song that PE shows their back in great form. "LSD" has a great beat for Chuck D to rap on as Chuck D's voice is loud and clear. Flavor Flav is in effect with two songs that make the album more fun with "41:19" and "What What". The lead single "Swindler's Lust" is very controversial as they go for Russell Simmon's jugular on a spine tingling track.
Overall Public Enemy does have a couple of beats that don't work, but for the most part keep the album very consistent with good topics and nice beats.
Top 3 Songs:
1. Swindler's Lust
2. LSD
3. Do You Wanna Go Our Way?
