First ensure mIRCis running and click on File pulldown and choose Options, next you should choose Sound and Requests folder and check "accept sounds and warn if file doesn't exist" also set the path where any exiting wav files you would like to play, preferably separate from any programs or other types of files, i.e.; c:\mirc\sounds\ is where most would be located, making sure ofcourse that directory exists, the choice is yours. Then go to DCC Options FServe and make sure that directory matches the path you specified in Sound Requests folder (for version before 5.4). The next step of course is to put some files in that directory, such as test.wav click here. Get it Now!!
Click and File Save As c:\mirc\sounds\test.wav. Please stand by while the file transfers As soon as that transfer is done, if you didn't send it to your wav directory you need to move it there now, then type in your mIRC client screen, either on a channel or a query to someone;
Try It
/sound (the channel name, or the person's nick) test.wav (anything here)
/sound test.wav
/sound person'snick test.wav this works
You should be all set now, if you didn't hear the sound, something isn't right.If this don't work for you. Come and see us on

You must have each wav on your computer to hear each wav.

Everyone on the same channel, who has the same wav on their 'puter, who isn't already listening to another wav, will hear it when you play it.
Click the green button with an '/a' (your alias file) on it at the top of the mirc window and paste this line at the left edge, under the others there (don't mess with the box at the bottom) & then click OK:
/s /sound $1.wav < ! $+ $me $1.wav > *2(Now, instead of /sound filename.wav, the command to play wavs will be/s filename (no .wav at the end) example
