"The Stranger"
I saw someone today that reminded me of you
When I stopped walking, they seemed to stop too
They just stared back at me with a dead blank stare
I knew they were wanting to say something to me
but I could figure out what it was they wanted to say
They looked confused and pale
I tried to speak but they seemed like they didn't understand me but I couldn't hear their words
I could just read their lips while they were moving
It was like this person was my twin
They even had on the same shirt as me (Strange)
I would smile then they would smile back
I would frown and they would do the same
It was like I knew them very well
They followed me even into the darkness but disappeared until light
I could reach out to touch them but I could never actually feel them
Oh who is this person that I had seen?
It's making me very angry
Please go away stranger
*Fists Hits a Mirror and smashes it to pieces*
I guess it had been my reflection in a mirror all this time
now the broken pieces are pieces of my own state of mind.
The person I had seen was just a reflection of me
nothing but me and my insanity!!!

Posted by Sati on October 11, 1999 - Cute... and I don't mean that in a bad way. Nice imagery.

Posted by Paul Douglas on October 06, 1999 - Mmm, quite nice. I know I have the same emotions you expressed here. What makes the poem are those last four lines; worded with a growing sense of rage and pain, they gave so much flow and range to the poem. Good work. Paul
