Little Boy Little Boy
For Brian

You laugh, and you smile
And you transfered that to me when
You looked up the dress of our first grade teacher.
Such a silly little boy.

But, your heart is fragile
Although, your spirit is not.
I cannot remember you frowning,
Maybe you didn't know
What the doctors tell your parents
During their conferences in the hall.

For seven short years
Your second home is a hospital bed
Near the end, I rarely see you.
You do not come to school anymore.
Then my mother speaks softly to me
And tells me you're gone.

The next day, the whole school goes on a field trip
We go to the church up the road
And we celebrate the life of a
Very little boy.
