Mae Questel

Voice of Betty Boop

Died on January 4th,1998 at the age of 89.

Betty Boop's character was created in the early 1930's at the Fleishcher Brothers studio in New York. She was originally drawn as a dog with a human body. Betty was featured in several cartoons as this dog character in the 1930's. It didn't take long for Betty to surpass Bimbo in popularity and eventually becoming the main character in the cartoons, and slowly loosing her dog like characteristics. her cartoon career only lasted from 1930 to 1939, but her image has endured as a symbol of sexuality that Betty fans have grown to love. There were more then one hundred Betty Boop cartoons produced.
