Held June 21, 1998 at Bennett Spring State Park.
Almost 50 cars and hundreds of spectators were present for the 25th Anniversary HillBilly Days Antique Car Show, held June 21, 1998 at Bennett Spring State Park. Owners, drivers, and well-wishers alike enjoyed a fun, festive time taking in all the sights and splendors of dozens of fantastic, vintage cars.
Around ten o'clock Sunday morning, a few cars had already begun to gather in the lot past Whisper Bridge at Bennett Springs. A few lawn chairs and picnic lunches had already established ground under the large trees behind the parking spaces. By eleven, the show was in full swing. Cars were lined up and owners began touring the autos that others brought.
After lunchtime, people began filing across the bridge to marvel at the vintage beauties. The heat, albeit intense, didn't seem to hamper crowds of people flocking to the car show. The public were greeted by almost 50 automotive antiquities. People continued to tour the lot for several hours before leaving. Many took photographs to bring a piece of the show with them. The vintage cars began to pull out around three o'clock, hopefully with intentions to come back next year.
The cars weren't judged, nor were prizes given out. Owners did take home a small plaque to augment the great time they had. Despite the fact that the cars did not win any trophies, medals, or ribbons; they all deserved an award in my opinion.
