~WRESTLING~

Meet John! This is my little brother. He wrestles for Keyser High School. This picture was taken at the Regional Tornament as a qualifier for the state meet. He finished third in Region II AA. As you can see, he earned his piece of tin and a trip to the State Wrestling Tornament. He did real well in the State Meet. Especially for a sophomore! He finished sixth!!! He wrestled in the 145 lb weight division. You can check him out at the West Virginia Wrestling page.

John did very well athletically this year. At a mere 150 lbs, he was the starting guard for Keyser High's state competitive football team. He has recently made the baseball team. It is to soon to predict another state competition in baseball for this young man, but his productive contributions to the team are. If you can't tell, I am really proud of my little brother! I wish him the best.

Josh and John Maybury Keyser Wrestling 1997 wrestling 160-Josh, 140-John

This is John pinning a kid from Westmar. Check out his awesome position! Back arched! Head up! Controling the head and arms! Hips down! Can ya see it? Well if ya can't somethin is wrong with ya!

As for the Jester's wrestling. Well, it is fading fast. Recently I went to the Frankfort District Torny and ended up dislocating my radius and tearing about every ligament possible. It was one of those freak accidents that just happen really quick. I was rushed to the hospital. John forfeited his final match to accompany me to the hospital. (My loving brother!) I never accomplished as much as I would have like to in wrestling. Now that I am in college majoring in engineering I fear I may never wrestle competitively again. That really bothers me! I really miss it. Oh well.---can't dwell on it too much. My accomplishments are listed below

Most of my wrestling took place my sophomore and senior years. My freshman year I was restricted to Junior Varsity by a big senior. My junior year I fell ill to mono. in mid season. So I wasn't wrestling in the best condition, and I didn't get to finish my season. I also started my junior year of wrestling as by getting released from the Dr. and Physical Therapist one day before the season started. I spent the summer in rehab due to a broken collar bone and extensive nerve damage. I seem to continually acquire ,through the duration of my life, an added desire to compete athletically on account of injuries and illnesses.

Now I am a spectator! I attend and watch most every match of John's. I only missed three this year. Unfortunately one of those three was the state tornament! I really regret that. I just couldn't miss that much collge. I make a loud and obnoxious spectator, especially when John is wrestling! I have had referees get really pissed at me! Oh well! Breaks my heart.

This is me (Josh). I am at the 1997 Regional Tornament at Berkley Spring, West Virginia. I am wrestling John Madia from Clarksburg Notre Dame. I pin him off of this awesome throw! This is the match that advanced me to the finals, where I lost to Josh Kuykendal from Frankfort.

This is John and I at the 1998 Regionals. I'm being the big brother here as I get ready to crack his back before he goest out to wrestle. He still askes me for advice and tips which makes me feel wanted, loved, and appreciated. I'm glad that we are so close and can help each other out so often. I try to volunteer as much of my time with the Keyser wrestling team so that I can actually have hands on work with him on his moves, and I enjoy teaching the young wrestlers better ways to execute their moves. OH the joys of Wrestling!

Check out West Virginia Wrestling! Ya might find John there, if ya look!
