This is not the official page or anything this is just my tribute and a way for me to tell you about our awesome youth group. Recently, our youth pastor Craig Owen, was promoted to associate pastor. Craig and his wife, Susan served God through youth ministry for 3 years. We have a new youth minister. His name is Kris Keith. He is one cool guy! God has really blessed him with the ability to reach youth. Along with Kris, comes his new wife, Amy. They've been married for a year now. These two people are answers to our prayers. So many people are either coming closer to God or rededicating their lives to Christ or becoming Christians because God is working over time in the lives of most of the people in out youth group.
Bad news... summer is over. I know, I know, moan and groan with me now as the school bell rings for the 1999-2000 school year. This summer our youth group had a great time. I have up several pictures from this summer. On this page are pictures from Super Summer. Super Summer is a leadership camp put on by the Baptist General Convention in cooperation with several Baptist universities in Texas. Choir Tour was great! And I actually got up pictures this year! WOW! You can check out some of the crazy fun that we had on this page. Student Life was held at Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas. It was a long drive but everyone loved it.
So now the bell calls to start yet another ?exciting? school year. But hey, just cause summer is over doesn't mean that the youth group isn't still in action. We will be having Disciple Now soon too. I still have up pictures from our Disciple Now 1998 that was on November 20, 21, and 22. It was a sucess and a blast. We were all changed! There is also a praise band in the making! God In My Life
I have been brought up in a Christian home so I have known since day one that Jesus loved me and died for me. It's not just about knowing that Jesus is Lord and that he died for me, it's about knowing Jesus personally and having a relationship and a friendship with Him. Like any relationship and friendship, you have to grow in your relationship with Christ. I was standing still in my relationship with Christ and my spirutual growth was stunted until I came to the Southmont Youth Group. My uncle Jerald and his family moved to my town after God called him to serve at Southmont as the minister of music. After that, I started coming to Southmont with my cousins Christy and Kelley. I went to the youth group classes and church services and it was a real awakening. All of a sudden a realized how precious I was to Jesus and how much He meant to me. I rededicated myself to God about a year ago at the Youth Evangelism Conference. Ever since then I have been moving forward in my relationship with Christ -- you know what? It feels great! There is NOTHING like a relationship with Christ! No matter what happens, He is ALWAYS there for you. If you don't know Christ, I incourage you to consider Him.
