What's the story behind us? One of my best friends and confidants is none other than a guy clear over in Germany. Whenever I tell people that, they find it rather strange, but Lukas and I have a hard-to-come by relationship. Never have I met someone more intellectually interesting, funny, creative, and just an all around great mind.
It's rather funny actually. Luke and I met the very first
day of my junior year in highschool. I happened to be wearing a t-shirt that I had bought during my summer trip to Germany.
I asked him if he had heard of it (since he lives in
Berlin, Germany), but he just gave me a weird look and said "no."
That was the end of that.
Nearly 7 months later we started to talk to each little by little. Gradually we found out that we really enjoyed each others company. We went to prom together, and started dating. Since he was an exchange student he had to leave to go back to Germany in July. I was lucky enough to be able to spend Christmas and New Year's 2000 in Berlin with him and his family. Wow - New Year's at the Brandenburg gate was wild!
I thought the time I spent there during the holiday season was great. Little did I know that I'd be able to visit him again in the summer! Yes, I spent about a month (between July and August) over there this past summer. We drove down to Italy and spent a week or two in a huge house called "La Madonnina" in Laveno, Italy. It was such a beautiful place! I can't even begin to explain how much fun I had in Italy!!!
Fun times. Now Luke and I are just friends, but that's ok. We still have the chance to chat with each other once in awhile, and thank goodness for the invention of e-mail. :)
