Our Babies

See the new BABY DUCKS!!!

Miss Alice, our first snake. She is a ball python, about 3 feet long.

Harley, our Columbian Red Tail Boa. A good "starter snake", due to very gentle temperament and good feeding habits.

Wyrm, our 14-foot Burmese Python.
At the time of this photo she weighed about 95 lbs.
She died about a year ago of pneumonia,
but was one of our favorite snakes. Gentle as a lamb.

Wyrm bred with Loki, our male burm,
in November of 1994. She laid 18 beautiful
eggs in the spring of 1995, but only one hatched.
It was our first attempt at breeding,
and we weren't sure of temperature or humidity
requirements for her. The pregnancy
was very hard on her, it was shortly after the hatching
that she came down with pneumonia.

The lizards

Athena, our Nile Monitor. This is not a pet
for amateurs. Nile monitors are very
temperamental, and can grow to nine feet in length.
They have razor sharp teeth, strong jaws
and strong, sharp claws for tearing the flesh
of their prey. Athena was a wild-caught baby, and
is still very "people shy".

But, as you can see, she tolerates Daddy's affections quite well.
At the time of this photo, she was about a year old, and only about 2 feet long. She is now 4 years old, and nearly 4 feet.

T.J., a baby nile monitor we received as a gift.
She was very sweet-tempered, gentle and fun.
We're pretty sure she was captive-hatched.

T.J. developed an eating disorder, and refused food for so long
that despite our efforts and veterinary care,
she died.

Zeus, one of our adult iguanas.
We "rescued" him from a local pet store.
He had sustained injuries to a foot and his tail,
resulting in infection. With proper veterinary and home care
he recovered and lived for several years.

And this is Apollo, a baby iguana. Very friendly.
