All the Fishies

Bettas

  • Fish
    What a beautiful little fishbowl!
Fish was my white male betta fish. I got him in February 99 (I think) and he lived for about a year. He was an extremely aggressive fish, and used to beat up his poor little girlfriend Friend, but I loved him anyways. =O) I eventually ended up moving him into my big aquarium with Tiger 'cause all my other fish had died and there was so much space. They didn't fight at all for almost 2 months, then one day they had rips on their tails and the next Fish was dead.
  • Friend
I bought Friend on August 21st to be Fish's girlfriend. She was very pretty, multicoloured with a mix of green, red, purple, and brown. She looked dull from far away, though; you had to get up close to see her colours. She was very shy and would try to play dead when I come. I had to separate her and Fish once a day to feed her, because otherwise he'd eat his food and hers too! Missy ate her one day while I had them separated...I was *NOT* impressed with that kitten for a very long time, particularly considering I found Friend's head 3 days later at the foot of my bed. *shudder* Poor fishy...

    Tropical Fish

  • Neon Tetras
I named my neon tetras Mono, Di, Pro, and Tetra, which are the chemistry prefixes for one, two, three and four. They tended to swim in a school quite a bit, and they may have been small, but they were hungry! They won't fight the other fish for the food, but they wouldn't go without eating either.

  • Zebra Danios
My zebra danios were named Zebra, Zipper, ZigZag, and Zazu. These have got to be the most easygoing fish I have ever seen. They were always popping by to visit Tiger and they never chase the neon tetras, even though they're bigger than them. They also seemed to swim in a school, and sometimes would join Mono, Di, Pro, and Tetra to make a big school!

  • Tiger Bards
I had 2 tiger bards, named Tiger and Tails. Tiger is nasty, and he bit off a corner of Tails's tail (so I changed both their names to suit their characters) For 2 days, I kept Tiger in the bag he came in submerged in the aquarium with the top open so that he couldnn't hurt the other fish but he wouldn't die either. I tried taking Tails out so she could heal up a bit, but then Tiger just chased the other fish so I took her out of the bag and put him in. He was quite outraged at being separated, but it certainly did teach him to be nice, and he played happily with the other fish, and Tails used to turn around and chase HIM if he got out of line! =O) Tiger is the only fish that's still alive. He's living with my sister at the moment.

  • Golden Mickey Tetra
Mickey was the only name to give this guy. A beautiful mix of yellow and orange with a distinct mickey mouse head on his tail, Mickey was by far the most active of my fish, not to mention the most brightly coloured. He darted all over the place, checking everything out. He loved the Eiffel Tower statue I have in the aquarium.

  • Panda Cory Catfish
Paul was a very very shy fish. He stuck close to the bottom of the tank, cleaning up the extra food and sniffling around with his cute, short little whiskers. By far the most expensive of my fish, I had to get him because I really wanted a catfish, but most are agressive and would eat my other fish, and those that aren't are usually plain and drab looking. Pandas were also my favourite animal before I discovered chinchillas, so the combination was irresistable!!! He sadly died a couple of days after I brought him home...I think he may have been sick when I got him. But he was a joy for the small amount of time he was there!
