Hopper and Leapfrog

These two frogs were very special. My sister's friend had bought them but had to get rid of them so he freed them all in his back yard. He gave her Hopper, who had a long scratch down his tummy. She caught Leapfrog out in the yard and brought them home to me.

This is Leisa's pinky finger! See how tiny they were?

We only had our frogs for about 3 weeks. They were doing very well in their cool whip home, with lots of cool rocks and leaves. We tried to research what to feed them, but couldn't seem to find any web pages on aquatic frogs. I gave them goldfish and betta food (they seemed to be eating the betta food, but wouldn't touch the goldfish flakes) and then we got a few snips of aquatic plants. They died, sadly, a couple of days after I washed out their container. I didn't use dish soap on it, but I used the cloth that had been used to wash the dishes a few hours earlier, and there must have been enough soap residue in it to kill them.

They loved this big rock!

The frogs survived many things, including several dives into Furbles' dust bath. Hopper was recovering nicely from his scratch, in fact it had almost disappeared. But sadly, they both were killed by the soap.

I kept enough water in the bottom for them to swim in, but not enough to drown them if they for some reason couldn't get back up onto the rock or leaf.

I would like to get some more frogs one day, but I want to learn more about them first!!!
