Missy isn't my pet exactly...she's my sister's. But she fully deserves to have a page of her own as she is very much a member of this family. We've had her for about 9 weeks (since June 18th, 1999) and she's wormed her way into all our hearts quite nicely since that time!
We discovered that Missy had an extreme fondness for having her picture taken, and with a tiny bit of coaxing would even pose beautifully! One day, when I have 12 different pets of my own, I will make a calendar with a different kind of pet for each month.
Missy is an EXTREMELY playful kitten and loves toys of all kinds. But at the same time, she loves to curl up in your lap for a little cat nap, and will sit by my feet at the computer for hours at a time. She has about a zillion toys around the house, including a beautiful ostrich feather "cat teaser". But her favourite toys are still toilet paper tubes and the long, narrow rug in the hall. She tackles it, plays with the tassles, burrows under it--I even caught her asleep under it once! What a rascal.
Missy LOVES to sit on my shoulders. She'll perch up there as I bustle around the kitchen making macaroni, and I can even climb up and down stairs with her on there. Of course, as soon as she wants off, she wants off NOW! Since I wear a lot of sleeveless shirts, that's lead to some pretty bad scratches on my shoulders. But I still enjoy her perching there...especially when she climbs up my leg to do so! She's even perched on my hip a couple of times, which is even better because then when you want to turn, you don't worry about the cat falling off, you just tuck your elbow in and hold her on.
Missy is an absolute bundle of fun and I look forward to seeing her mature with age. She's so cuddly now, she'll be a real lap cat later on.
