Patches is my darling calico cat. We've had her since she was a kitten and she is a wonderful, beautiful, healthy sweetheart. She has endured the arrival of the kitten very well, and never scratches at her, even as the little rascal torments her. All she'll do is turn around and smack her with her (claws retracted) paw. She was much the same with my sister, who was a toddler when we got Patches. The poor darling would endure being carried around by the throat without swinging a paw. She would only cry until someone came to rescue her. Now, on the other hand, if Kristen tried to hurt her she would have no qualms about drawing some blood. She is a very wise cat who knows the difference between babies who are excusable and people who should know better.
She is also very good with rodents, believe it or not. I used to have 3 mice, and one got one while I wasn't home one day. Eek! She was kind enough to trap it so that my mom wouldn't find and kill it, and guard it without laying a paw on it or even worrying or teasing it. She also tolerates my chinchilla extremely, even allowing him to walk on her (which the cheeky little bum does quite frequently).
Despite the fact that we feed our cats no-name brand cat food, Patches has never been sick, and the vet always comments on how healthy she is. She's an indoor cat, and we spend a lot of time loving and playing with all our animals, and I think that's why they do so well.
Poor Patches rarely gets a chance to talk for herself, as someone in the house is always talking for one of the pets! We constantly amuse each other by doing impressions of what the animals are saying, and ever since we got the kitten Missy, the cats have been dubbed "The Big Kitty" and "The Little Kitten".
Patches is my cat, but she will stay with my parents when I go to university because my dad couldn't live without her! She's a wonderful cat!
