About the Creator of This Crazy Site (Or was that the crazy creator of this site? Hmmm...)

If you don't know me, this will tell you a little bit about me; if you do maybe you'll find out something you don't know!

My name is Theresa Erickson. I'm 18 now, and finally getting used to the age. The last year of my life has felt more like 10, so much has happened and so many things have changed. I have evolved a lot as a person and grown in many ways that I didn't want to but have welcomed because they have made me who I am now. I have tentative plans to move (for hopefully the last time in a LONG while; this will be Home #7 since February) on November 1st and would be infinitely happy to do so as that move would put me back where I want to be most.

What have I learned in the last year? I've learned that love is more important than anything else, and that if you don't love yourself you won't be able to love anyone else. I've learned that it's not possible to do it all on your own, at least not without communicating with people; it leads to emotional problems and difficulties in relationships. I've learned that at times, you have to stand and face life instead of hiding behind things. I've also learned that there are a few key foods and utensils you need to keep in the house, and the rest you can do without! I've learned some things about myself I didn't want to know and have striven (and strive still) to change them. I've learned some things about myself I was pleasantly surprised to discover as well! And thank goodness for that.

Anyways, just so's you don't think I'm always this philosophical, I'll tell you about my other interests. I am extremely passionate about music; the guitar is my most recent love and I take mine *everywhere*. The piano is my first love musically; I started taking lessons when I was five and was playing around with it even before then. I want to learn the drums and bass guitar once I feel that I've gotten a bit more guitar knowledge under my belt...and have the money to purchase the other instruments. I sing as well...I actually have been fortunate enough to record some music, the songs from my CD are on my music webpage.

Another thing I'm passionate about is animals. I've owned all sorts but right now I only have 2 fish and a chinchilla. And I haven't gotten to spend any time with my chinchilla and don't know if I will be able to keep it once I move (yes, I have a home lined up in case I can't). Happily though I am at a point in my life where I am not feeling a strong emotional void and it's usually during my voids that I feel the need to bring more animals into my life. So I am content with the love of "people" for now.

I love to write...stories, poetry, essays, random thoughts...I am working on a poetry section for this site and am waiting to find out if one of my poems won the poetry contest I entered it in earlier this year (I've made it as far as the semifinals). Incidentally, that poem (entitled "Perfection") is being published in a book that's for sale at www.poetry.com. No, I don't know the name of the book offhand (shows you how important fame is to me. *grins*) but I'll look it up and stick it on here in case anyone wants to get a copy. Me, I'm waiting till people get bored with them and I can pick one up cheap in a second hand book store. You can also read some of my stories in my Chinchilla section. They're old but they're mine and I think they're cute for what it's worth.

Tunes...I love listening to other peoples' music as well. I avidly hate country music and I'm not a big fan of most rap (especially rap done by chicks) but I'm open-minded. I like everything from Natalie Imbruglia and Jewel to Staind and Papa Roach, with everything in between. I LOVE Matthew Good Band and Our Lady Peace, The Offspring, Incubus, stuff like that. I have weaknesses for certain songs by artists that I otherwise don't care for much, like Bang Bang Boom by the Moffats. I'll admit though, I only like that song because it reminds me of myself and my little "doot da doot"'s.

As for the rest? Well, only time will tell. I hope for kids one day in the far distant future. The thing that would make me happiest in the world (well, the second most important thing) would be to have my own kitchen...call me screwed, call me traditional and anti-feminist, but once I have my kitchen set up with my own dishes and pots and pans and utensils (the food can belong to anyone, I could care less. *lol*) I will be much more content.
