The Unveiling of Muffy, the Unchin
*brrrrrrrrrring!!!* I was startled awake and smacked my hand around the
table trying to find the phone. *brrrrrrr---* "Hello?" Rubbing my eyes,
I desperately tried to tell whether the clock said 7am or 1pm. The bright
sun streaming through the window assured me it was one.
"What? Oh, Furbles...yeah, I'll get him." I handed the phone to my furry
sidekick with a warning that he'd better not chew.
When Furbles got off the phone, he told me that we needed to go to
Marylee's right away. It seems that Murphy had finally had it with the
Unchin and he was dying to know what it really was! We packed our bags,
hopped on a plane, and headed over to Massachussets. The border guard
wanted to keep Furbles for his 12 year old daughter, but I told him that my
daddy worked for the border and I knew they weren't allowed to do that, so
he had to let us through.
Upon arriving at Marylee's house, we were greeted by a very excited chin
and the Unchin Muffy. I quickly saw why Muffy was called the unchin: Muffy
wasn't a chin at all!!!
We weren't sure just *what* Muffy was though, so we started gathering the
clues.
Clue #1: Muffy was about the same size as a chinchilla, maybe a bit bigger.
Deduction #1: Muffy was neither a horse, a cow, or dog nor a gerbil,
hamster, or mouse. Wrong size.
Clue#2: Muffy had a rather twitchy nose and a nice set of whiskers.
Deduction #2: Muffy was not a fish or a bird because they don't have
whiskers, or a cat, because cats are rarely *caught* twitching their noses,
and if you do catch them, they'll insist that they were just about to
sneeze.
Clue#3: Muffy had long ears and a short, cute tail.
Deduction #3: Muffy was not a guinea pig. They have short ears and not as
cute tails.
Conclusion: Muffy must be a bunny rabbit! We told Murphy,
and he was very glad to know the truth...he'd always known it was out
there. Murphy couldn't wait for Marylee to come home so he could tell her
that the Unchin was actually a rabbit!
Poor Muffy, though, who always wanted to be a chinchilla!
Satisfied with our hard work, Furbles and I went out and bought an apple to
split, then hopped back on the plane and went home for a nice bath...me in
water, him in dust. =O)
