First Day Of
School

Tick-tick-tick-tick-tock-went
the clock,
Time was
just ticking away.
Ring-a-ling-ring-a-ling-the
clock did sing,
Time to get
up and greet the new day.
I stumble
out of bed and fumble to the kitchen,
Poured
myself a cup of ambition,
Yawning,stretching,trying
to come alive.

Went to the
kids rooms and said time to get up,
The first
day of school is finally here.
In soft
little mumbles they whispered out,
Just five
more minutes of sleep mom please.

Last night
they sat out their clothes,
And got
their back-packs ready to go.
So the five
more minutes I let them have.
They soon
got out of bed and got ready for school,
Had a pop
tart and juice and played some 64.

I sent them
off to school with a hug and a kiss,
With a smile
on my face I said,"have a nice day."

I said a
prayer to ease my mind
In hopes it
would take away all my fears
I asked God
to protect the kids
Not just
mine but all the kids
As they went
back to school
To keep them
safe from all harm
And to make
the school's their
Safe haven
the way it should be.
