The drum dates back at least 4000 years and has been used in rituals. shamanic practices, rites of passage and celebrations. It has also been used to enable communication from one tribe to another and as a tool that enables us to reach higher levels of consciousness. Many Indigenous people continue to honour the drum as an important aspect of their life. The drum, like the children of the Earth has many faces, colours, shapes and sizes. Each one is different but underneath each speaks a language we all understand. The drum expresses the song of Love and Unity and beats to the Rhythm of Creation. It is also said to be the Heartbeat of the Earth Mother.
