Black Flag
One of the best 80's U.S. hardcore bands. Los Angeles hasn't had it better for a long time.

Citizen Fish
Ska-punk at it's finest. Made up of members of the greats: Subhumans and Culture Shock. On Bluurg Records.

The Clash
These guys were one of the first. UK punk ala Sex Pistols, The Damned, etc. Legendary. And this is by far the best of the many many Clash sites i've seen.

Dance Hall Crashers
Ska band originally formed by OpIvy's Lint, Matt, and Dave (none still in it). Third wave ska, with a couple of very hot singers.

Dead Kennedy's
By far one of my favorite bands ever. DK's almost single-handedly brought punk to California and then to the rest of the country. Hardcore to old school to new wave, these guys did it all. Jello Biafra's lyrics are possibly the most thoughtful and political I've ever heard.

Descendents
Pioneers in pop-punk. Happy, funny, silly, wacky, kooky, zany, stupid punk rock.

The Exploited
Early UK punk rock. The definition of hardcore. And they're still making music today.

J Church
Pop punk that is hard to explain. I personally am not too fond of this band, but I know a lot of people who absolutly love them. You're going to have to make up your own mind.

Less Than Jake
I cannot say enough good things about this band. Ska-core, definitly, but they kick a certain plaid-wearing ska-sore- band- whose- name- I- won'-t mention- here's ass all to hell and back. Punky commands you to go out and buy everything you can find by Less Than Jake!!!

Minor Threat
Great 80's straight-edge band. Hardcore punk that made Dischord Records famous with Fugazi's (BLASPHEMY!! HE WAS IN MINOR THREAT FIRST!!!) Ian McKaye. "We're just...a minor threat!!"

Misfits
Legendary punk band with Glen Danzig. These guys invented Horror Punk, and few have been brave enough to follow in their footsteps. With a reunion tour going strong, the Misfits are better then ever.

Operation Ivy
A band that opened up the wide world of punk to me a few years ago. The first ska-punk band, and easily the best. One of Lookout!'s first bands, they made the Berkeley label a household punk name.

The Ramones
What kind of punk page would this be if it didn't have a Ramones link, and Rockaway Beach is just about the best Ramones link out there. They play great Ramones-type....ummm....I mean they play punk rock Ramones-style...well....I give up.

Screeching Weasel/Riverdales
No matter what your opinion of Ben Weasel, you have to admit that Screeching Weasel is a great punk-pop band. The Riverdales....well....I'm not too crazy about them, but now that Screeching Weasel is officially back together (yippee!!), I guess I won't have to worry about it.

Sex Pistols
Do I really need to tell you who these guys are? The best.

Social Distorion
Great 80's punk-o-billy band on (ack)Time Bomb Records. Many people consider their album "Mommy's Little Monster" to be the best punk album ever (I'm not one of those, but there are a bunch who do.)

The Specials
They brought ska to the mainstream in the 70's in the UK. It took about ten years for it to catch on over here in the U.S., but if it wasn't for The Specials and their 2-Tone Records, ska may have died in Jamacia where it started.

Subhumans
Subhumans are definitly one of the best bands to ever come out of the UK or anywhere else for that matter. Their early hardcore albums are possibly the best punk albums to ever be released. This is a very mediocre site, but it is the only one I can find. If there is a better one out there, let me know.

Thumper
Another in a long line of ska-core punk bands. One of the better of this kind of music that is usually pretty unpopular in the punk world.

The Vandals
Another legendary band from southern Claifornia. Through many different lineups, many different sounds, and many different albums, they're still going strong.
