The band itself was only formed for a few years... They disbanded around 1970 when Lou Reed went solo.

The lady of the band Nico went out with the producer of the bands first album. HIs name was Andy Warhol....He was an artist....He created the cover to the Velvet Underground and Nico.

I heard an interesting story from my parents about when they were in college....my mom hired Andy Warhol and Nico to appear at Denver University.... Andy Warhol was on a sort of speaking tour... He was getting paid a lot for doing it...However he did not want to do it....So.. he hired an actor to go around the country and give speeches for him....That worked until TIME magazine saw him.... People all around the country were sueing him....That forced him to appear at Denver University....my mom drove Nico and Andy, who BTW were making out the whole way, to DU.... When they got there my mom found that Andy Warhol had hired a spokesperson to talk for him...he was extremelly pisssed....So the students never actually got to hear him speak...But they did get their money back from Andy....
