Edward Hopper

On this page I will show my favorite paintings by Hopper and some of the best known ones as well.

Most of his works are fairly lonely city scenes.  He also did lots of nautical scenes of beaches and ships and such, but I don't like those as much.
Some have people as their main focuses as well, and these I don't like.  The people just I dunno, aren't appealing to me.  I prefer ones of just places, maybe due to my own love of geography.  Maybe I deep down just don't like people.

Click the little images to see bigger ones. They all look much better bigger.

This painting is "Self Portrait", the man himself.  No date unfortunately.

This next one is "Jo Painting," a painting of Ed's wife, who I bet is named Jo!!!
These two are from cjackson's page, with a lot more Hopper pictures.

This is "House by the Railroad."  I like this one, old Victorian house kinda lonely near the tracks.
This is from a page at U. Missouri, which is quite informative.

This is "Nighthawks," the most famous one, done in 1940.
I like it ok, but the title is sorta weird.  Like an 80's football team movie or something.
I remember an ad on the Cartoon Network with Space Ghost sitting at the bar. Or maybe it was Johnny Bravo.

Here's "Early Sunday Morning," done in 1930.  I like this one a lot.
This and Nighthawks are from a page at Cal State Hayward. Worth a look.

This is "Route 6 - Eastham."  I actually found this online, looking for Edward Hopper sites.
I like it too.
It's from www.Art.com, where there are millions of Hopper works and those of other painters,
and you can buy pretty cheap posters of them all.  Neat!

This is "The City."  I found this one online at art.com.  I like it a lot.

This is "Gas," or as I saw it one place, "Gas Station."  So lonely!
From the Artchive, a very big and nice site with lots of artists and genres represented.
I have it bookmarked, I go there a lot.

Lots more Edward Hopper works can be found at i-galleries.
