Steve Jones (guitar)

Glen Matlock (bass)

Paul Cook (London, GB, 20/07/56, drums)

The Sex Pistols will always be the greatest band in the punk rock history. Their manager was Malcom McLaren, owner of a shop called Sex, place where the first rehearsals of the Pistols took place. The first concert happened in November 6th 1975. An inevitable faliure given the unpreparement of the band. Anyhow, thats when punk rock was born. Hired by EMI, the Pistols release the single "Anarchy in the UK", em Dezember 1976.

AFter using the word "fuck" on television, they are fired by EMI e most of their concerts were cancelled.

Matlock and Rotten were never "great friends", even though Matlock was considered to be the best musician in the band. In February 1977, the fight got worse - specially where their differences took part - and Matlock was kicked out. His exit motivated the entrance of whom would become the biggest punk rock symbol of all times, Sid Vicious (John Beverly, London/GB, 10/05/57). Vicious, Rotten's best friend, was a terrible basist, who could barely play, since he was always stoned with all kind of drugs. Therefore, his live performance e his auto-destructive personality gave the final touch in the band's formula. Right in the beggining, Vicious starts to cause trouble: in one of the first rehearsals, Vicious is taken to the hospital. Cause: hepatite due to the high use of drugs and alcohol.

In May, "God Save the Queen" is released, by A&M. The song brought one of the punk rock's ideals: "There is no future for England". This time, A&M fired them. Even though banned from the radios, the song hits the second place in the brittish parade, and the album "Never mind the bollocks..." is released, by Virgin. With this record, England became small for Punk Rock.

After an US tour, everyone, including McLaren, was thinking about breaking up the band. While this was happening (McLaren blamed Rotten for the faliure of many of the band's projects, kicking him out of the band) Vicious was in a hospital curing himself from another overdose.

In 79, after being arrested for his girlfriend's murder, which was never fully explained, Sid dies of a heroin overdose in his mother's bathroom, at 21. He had paid a US$ 50 000 bail 24 hours earlier. A few hours later, ironically, McLaren, Cook and Jones arrive in New York with the intention of keeping him away from heroin.

Recently, the Pistols got together again, and in an interview, admitted to be doing it again only for the money; the fans thank'em, though. The new album was already released, and many concerts are planned.
