In Australia we have a radio station called Triple J, and this radio station is funded by the government…anywayz, this national radio station decided to put some government funds to(shock horror)good use! What they did was to devise a program called, Unearthed, and what this involved was going to regions of Australia to 'unearth' new musical talent. Now, I could babble on for ages about how great a radio station it is for doing this, etc. etc. BUT!!! As I find the radio station to be tedious at times, I wont, as there is a better radio station, a community radio station at that, in Queensland called 4ZzZ, but I'll save radio talk for another page, what, well, I hope what you are here to see is stuff about Grinspoon!

Well, here goes!

The first ever unearthed thingo happened in 1995, at a place in New South Wales called Lismore. The two winners of this first outing were, 1) Ode To A Goldfish with the song 'Undress Me', and a DAMN fine song it is to, I love that song!!!! If Sharon, Melanie, Cindy or Bobbie ever see this, please contact me with any information regarding your new work, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

The second winner from Lismore were, um, who were they, gee, I wonder, the suspense is killing me! I am such a git! It was Grinspoon, with the song 'Sickfest'.

Grinspoon are not only one of the first bands unearthed, but they are also the first(and at time of writing only) band from the unearthed sessions to actually get anywhere from being unearthed!

The band comprises of Pat Davern, the guitarist, (guitarists, gosh, there are so few guitarists in this world aren't there!) Phil Jamieson, the singer, vocalist, screamer, yeller, whateveryouwannacallit, (AND MY MATE BROOKE WAS AT A CONCERT WITH HIM AND THERE WAS AN INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED THAT DAY WHICH LEAD TO THE WRITING OF THE SONG FUCK TRUCK AND BROOKE ALSO HAS PHIL'S CIGGY AND YELLOW LIGHTER!) Joe Hansen, the bass player,(GET DOWN ON YR' KNEES AND WORSHIP US BASS PLAYERS, CAUSE WE ROCK THE HARDEST!)& Kristian Hopes, the drummer(poor bloke, but somebodies gotta be the drummer, must suck though, bags not me).

Grinspoon soon signed to Oracle records and released a self titled EP…which at the time of writing is currently available in limited places... It contains the tracks:

1.More Than You Are

2.Sickfest

3.Save Me

4.Let It Go

5.Point Of View + secret track(Dr Grinspoon)

The next release was Licker Bottle Cozy, which I am proud to own on 7" VINYL,but am also unsure of its' availability. It contains the tracks:

1.PostEnebriatedAnxiety

2.PigPen

3.Champion

4.Butcher

5.Freezer

It was released on GRUDGE.

The next release was the pedestrian single, on universal records(hmmm, universal records, sounds just a tad too fucking hollywood for me, but anywayz)which features Fuck Truck as the B-Side! YAY!

After Pedestrian came DCx3, a song about dead cats and there appearance three times in one day, or something, and the B-Side is Fire Engine Man, top song, but nothing to do with any of my friends!

Released on the 16 of September was Grinspoon's Guide To Better Living, which I now own! Features all of the singles, and some new stuff, which is also pretty damn great! Get it while you can. It contains the tracks:

1.Pressure Tested 1984

2.Boundary

3.DCx3

4.Sickfest

5.Railrider

6.Scalped

7.Pedestrian

8.Just Ace

9.PostEnebriatedAnxiety

10.Repeat

11.NBT

12.Don't Go Away

13.Balding Matters

14.Bad Funk Stripe

15.Champion

16.Truk + secret track(Protest Song)

The Repeat single and Just Ace single have also been released, and the next single to be released from the album will be Don't Go Away, some time in June.

Also check out for the lads in an upcoming telemovie which is called 'Hostage' and will supposedly be on Channel 9 early 1998. Grinspoon play a song called 'Clockwork', the very first song that Phil wrote for the band, so look out for it on Mr. Packer's network soon! Um, actually, it was on in late 1997, bastard channel 9 fooled me!!!
