Mount Tai or Tai Shan is part of the Tien Shan mountain range. It is the section that lies in China near the village where the ancient philosopher Confucius was born. It is 5000 ft high. It has become a pilgrimage center for many and is used for agriculture and mining at the base where the local inhabitants live.
