~ ~ Info on Monica's new song and a clip from it !! ~ ~ As we previously reported, Dupri produced the film's soundtrack and hooked up with Nas and Monica for the cut "I've Got To Have It" (see "JD Enlists Nas, Monica, Da Brat For 'Big Momma'"). The trio of artists recently teamed with director David Meyers to shoot a video for the track and found themselves throwing a party at the home Martin Lawrence keeps a watchful eye over as Big Momma. "It's pretty much based on the movie," Dupri told the MTV Radio Network of the clip. "It's big in Atlanta to go to the mall and get your shopping on and get clothes before you go out that night. We go to the mall -- me, Nas and Monica -- we go to the mall and everybody gets their gear, get fresh, and we all meet up at Big Momma's house for this party, this wild party at the end." [RealAudio]
The soundtrack features a host of hot hip-hop names, including Destiny's Child, Missy Elliott, Da Brat, Xscape, and the aforementioned Monica and Nas, among others. Destiny's Child took its new incarnation into the studio for the album, as new members Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams joined Destiny Child charter members Beyoncé Knowles and Kelly Rowland to record "Big Momma's Theme" with Da Brat. Destiny's Child will spend the better part of the summer on the road with Christina Aguilera, and the group will hit record stores with JD, Nas, Monica, and the rest of the "Big Momma's House" crew on May 30. The film arrives in theaters on June 2.

~ ~ Monica received an award~ ~ Monica and "Voices Against Violence" Arista Records R&B diva Monica who spoke to 400 young people from every corner of the country who had assembled in the nation's capital for "Voices Against Violence" – a Congressional youth violence summit. The summit was designed to hear directly from young people on this important issue, and to discuss ways to get everyone involved in local schools and communities. Joining President Clinton, MTV VJ Ananda, and the young people, Monica eloquently and passionately shared her experiences and views on the issue. Greeted with wild cheers by the teens, Monica was extremely effective in getting the young people to open up and share their thoughts on a difficult subject. In a special gesture, she performed her hit "Angel of Mine" that evening. Monica also received the RIAA Public Service Award, for her work - being an inspiration to young people, campaigning for literacy, and organizing roller skating parties for the Make A Wish Foundation, among other activities. ~ ~ Monica Back in the Studio~ ~ I recently came across some great news for us Monica fans. In a recent Disney Chat Monica said she would start working on her next album in 3 weeks (that was 6 weeks ago so she should be 3 weeks into the making of it). She said that this time around she will write on the album, and she also said that she hopes to have a new single (not off of The boy is Mine album) out by the end of the year. Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope that it comes out soon. |

~ ~ What does Monica's Handwriting say about her?? ~ ~
Monica's writing is pretty even and well-balanced. The tall H and I show she is ambitious (selling millions of records!) The big loops on her Y and F tell us she' generous and original, as well as physically active (as in dancing on stage). Rounded letters show she's sweet and generous, and the missing dots on her i's shows she is in a hurry (to get back to the show). Her big capital letters prove she doesn't at all mind being in the center of attention! |

~ ~ Angel~ ~ Here is an article I found at MTV.COM , where Moncia gives some information about her upcoming projects, Check it out. R&B songstress Monica opened up the evening with a three-song set that included her hit "Angel Of Mine." She brought out special guests 112 for her cover of Richard Marx' "Right Here Waiting," which she plans to release early in the new year as her next single. Monica's World AIDS Day performance came just days before she makes another charity appearance as a holiday storyteller for the Make-A-Wish Foundation's annual party in Atlanta on December 3 (see "Monica To Read Christmas Story For Make-A-Wish Foundation"). If all these good works make Monica seem like an angel, it's appropriate; she's working on the TV-movie "Angel," which is being produced by Whitney Houston for "The Wonderful World Of Disney" series (see "Monica Gets Divine Intervention For TV Project"). During rehearsals for the Beacon Theater show, Monica took time out to chat briefly with MTV News' John Norris about the (apparently top-secret) TV-movie. "I'm doing a movie called 'Angel,'" Monica began, "and they don't like me to talk about it, but that's what we're going to be working on early in the year.... I can say that [my character] passed [away]. She lived a very tragic life, but what she has opted to do is guide this young female, to steer her in the right direction so she does not do the same things she did." Monica (who also told Norris that she also has a small role in the upcoming romantic comedy "Boys And Girls," which stars Freddie Prinze Jr.) plans to take a much-needed vacation before she heads back to the studio to start recording her third album. |

On Saturday Monica sung the Star Spangled banner at the 1999 Worlds Series. Her performance was amazing and breath taking. She sung our National Anthem with soul and power that was worth of a power ballad. I will try and have a clip of the performance in coming weeks so keep checking for it. |

it is true I had the privilege of meeting Monica, I got the |
opportunity to meet Monica at the Skate Party
she held in la. At the party Monica meet and signed autographs for her fans. and
she was really nice and down to earth. When it was my turn to see her I said "hi
Monica", as if I had known her all my life. I then asked would she sign a poster that
I had brought, and she said sure what is your name... and I had to think about it. She
then signed it "Much love to me[My name was here] from
Monica". I then asked her if I could take a picture with her and she
said "of course" and I got this man to take the picture(it didn't come
out good though). I then gave her a paper with the address to this site and she said she
would have to keep the paper and I was like of course, and I said thanks. Then as soon as
I got out of line I remembered I had to get my nieces album cover signed. I then got back
in line and when I got back up to Monica I was like I know you are getting sick of me and
she laughed and so no... then the most amazing thing happened.. she actually remembered my
name I was like yea that is right but can you sign it to my niece. While she was signing
it I asked, if she enjoys listening to her own music... and she told me no because
she is to critical of her work and she never can enjoy it. After she signed autographs for
her fans she put on her skates and she actually skated with us. Check out the

| ~ ~ Monica To Star In MTV Telefilm ~ ~ Monica will make her acting debut in a MTV telefilm. The R&B songstress will appear in "Love Song," a story about a young woman torn between the life her parents mapped out for her and her own desires. The film, which is in production now, will feature new music by the singer. No airing date has been set. Other original telefilms that MTV has in the works include "Hip-Hopera," in which rap artists give the opera "Carmen" a contemporary twist; "Tupac: The Early Years," a story based on the poetry and rise to fame of the slain gangsta rapper; and "The Exes," a treatment of Pagan Kennedy's book about four ex-lovers who form a garage band and go on tour. The first MTV telefilm that will air is "2Gether," a spoof about an inept boy-band manager. The movie, which will be broadcast by the end of the year, will feature a cast of unknowns but be peppered with cameos by real-life boy-band members. |

| ~ ~ Monica To Hold Skate
Parties For Charity ~ ~ Monica is currently touring as part of Nickelodeon's "All That" Music & More Festival, but in addition to her normal road schedule, the Grammy Award-winning singer is also planning to host a few roller rink parties on select dates of the tour. Monica is holding the skating parties in conjunction with the National Make-A-Wish Foundation and will donate a part of the proceeds raised by the parties to the non-profit organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Entitled the Skate Jam Tour '99, Monica plans to hold the roller rink revelries in the evenings after she as completed her day gigs at the "All That" fest. The first Skate Jam will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 4, with subsequent parties scheduled for Dallas, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, Atlanta, and Holmdel, New Jersey. Monica's busy summer also includes three dates on Sarah McLachlan's Lilith Fair tour on July 20 and August 28-29. |

But currently over seas her single "Inside" has been released. It also
has a video that just started airing. You can order the single through CD Now as an

On the Album charts Monica fell from number 40 to number 44.(How ever 2 albums entered debut this week on the charts so monica's sales probably did drop much if at all.) She is going to play the lead female role, however they are still looking for the male leading role.
