Vampyres - The House of Wisdom

You wander in and about, desperately devouring the walls with your eyes, for there is written much knowledge. By now, each word is only faint in white chalk and soon the rain will come to wash away the words written in this open-rooved building. But when it does, it is a good thing, for in joy, together, we will rewrite all that was on here, and add to it, and fix what was not right, and remark about what was.

Welcome to this humble little place.. this is for believers, for role-players, for story-tellers, for listeners.. in the myth there's a bit of truth somewhere.. believe what you will and explore the rest away..

Vampires

If you don't like it, don't read it.

Vampires.
There are many things to know about vampires. The first thing to know is that Anne Rice's vampires are fiction. The second is that Bram Stoker's vampires are fiction. There may be evidence to connect Vlad to vampirism, but the book was fiction. The third thing to know is that you never know.

Vampires can be called vampyres. Like calling fish "phish." It's a more "fun" spelling.

Let's start from the beginning:

I don't know how vampires started. (if you start talking about Amel, go back to the beginning and start again) I personally believe that vampires evolved from the human race or humans evolved from the vampire race. I tend to lean more towards vampires evolving from humans, it's very Darwinistic.

Then someone must be a vampire. How did they become a vampire?
There are a lot of ways. The first is that they were always a vampire. This could be something in their DNA, something psychic, or something that just happens. I call this type of person a mind vampire. Mind vampires can know that they are a vampire from the moment they're born, or they could discover this much later. This discovery is a very emotional time, where the outside world may see them as going through a period of depression or confusion. Now this leads into the question: do vampires grow older? I'll discuss that later, but for now, mind vampires do grow older. If they didn't, they would be in a very bad position.

The second way is that they become a vampire later on in life, while not being born a vampire. This can happen by being around a vampire, or it can also be another DNA or psychic thing. Although they were absolutely and totally mortal before, they are now a vampire. This is really hard to distinguish from mind vampires, but they are essentially the same thing. Vampires.

The third way is that they are "turned." This can mean that they have the energy or blood of a vampire in them, thus making them a vampire. I haven't heard anyone who claims to be a vampire say that they were turned, but it is very probable. Vampire blood naturally is very powerful in order to kill any foreign things in it (such as bacteria or viruses) and when put into a mortal bloodstream in a large enough quantity, may turn the mortal blood into vampire blood, or something along those lines. In this I'm just hypothesizing.

Now that they're a vampire, what do they eat?

Some vampires are blood drinkers. They get energy from the blood. One theory that I've heard is that the soul is attached to the blood, and thus they are not getting blood for blood's sake, but for the energy properties of the soul in the blood.

Other vampires are psychic vampires, or psi-vamps. Psi-vamps get energy from a person's aura, soul, whatever. They drain energy. Psi-vamps don't have to get energy from just people, they can get it from the environment, music, or physical objects. Matter is made up of protons, neutrons, and electrons, which may be made of waves of energy, therefore all things are energy. Vampires don't necessarily have to stick to either of these categories. Some vampires can eat human food and get energy from it.

What can they do?

Vampires can have all different types of abilities, psychic and physical. I can't say that some have this and other have that, because there really is no limit to the different talents.

How long to they live?

Some vampires can be immortal, others can just live really long amounts of time. Some have heightened immune systems, which makes them live long amounts of time, others have less of an immune system.

Do vampires live in covens, cults, clans?

Not necessarily. They live where they want to live.

Are vampires truly the "dead"?

I don't think so. Vampires have lives, therefore they live. Why would this different life-force necessarily be a dead one? Where did that come from?

Are vampires evil?

A person is who they are, not depending on what they are. Humans are mass murderers of vegetables and animals. Vampires don't necessarily kill their victims or even take their energy in a bad way. Psi-vampires can take negative energy from people, thereby doing them a favor and feeding their appetite.

Do vampires fear the sun?

Not necessarily. A lot of vampires react negatively with the sun and are very sensitive to it, and some react positively to the sun and can get energy from it. I consider a vampire who reacts positively to the sun and has no need to hide from it to be vampyri, which is just a term. If there are vampires who burst into flame in light contact with the sun, there are probably very few of them, considering the complications with that, and survival of the fittest.

Garlic? Crosses? Holy water?

No, not that I've heard of. Crosses: a cross means nothing to a vampire, unless they have some psychological fear of crosses. A cross is merely a regular human's focus in collecting their natural psychic energy in order to use it. If they believe in the cross so much, then they are able to throw their psychic energy through it and harm another (such as a vampire). Energy is energy. They could be using a feather duster, it doesn't matter. Holy Water: now we're quoting "Dracula" and ought to go back to the beginning.

Stake through the heart? Fire?

A stake through anything's heart would be pretty disabilitating, but a vampire with extremely high immunity is not going to be affected by this. There's nothing special to it. Fire: Again, setting anything on fire would hurt it. Whether or not a vampire is particularly flammable really depends on the vampire.

How can a vampire die?

There is no "special" way to kill a vampire. A vampire can die from physical harm, from old age, from disease even. It depends on their immunity.

Questions? Mail me. I'll try my best to answer them all, but I reserve the right, as always, to say 'I don't know.'
