pink floyd biography & reviews
the band pink floyd was formed in london,1965.the band members were guitarist syd barrat, bassist roger waters, keyboardist rick wright & drummer nick mason.the band became a leading band in the psychedelic rock underground. in 1966, the band put out two singles: arnold layen and see emily play , which were pretty successful. in july 1967, the band realised the piper in the gates of dawn. this album was also successful. this album is the floyd's wildest album. barrat wrote most of the song. his writing was very mystic and for times, stupid. this is one of the strangest PF albums, but contains classics likeastronomy domain, intersteller overdrive, bike and more.

the success of the album was too much for syd's soul. it began very hard for him to write and play, the pressure on him was too much.
as a backup, roger brought up a friend of syd to play guitar and vocals. the man's name was david gilmour.
meanwhile, syd's condition went worse and worse. the other members relised that he just can't go on and syd leaved the band
during the recording of the next album, a suacerful of secrets.
this album is not a real good. the songs sipmly stuck together without any order. the sound is very heavy.
but, it has few good song, like set the controls for the heart of the sun,let there be more light and the title track,
a long instrument of effects and noises(like intersteler overdrive from piper).

the band's next project, ummagumma ,was a major project that had a major failure.this dubble album divides into two: the first album was a live album-performance of 4 classics. a great live version. but the studio disc is horrible. each band member was given a half LP side to work on. all the song was written solely by one of the members. this is the band's un favorite album.besides waters' granchester meadows and parts of gilmour's the narrow way, the studio disc sucks.but, it is a big landmark- pink floyd first big project.

in 1970, the band releases atom heart mother .this album is a very big landmark in pink floyd story.first, it's the first album that the band produced alone. second, it contained the title track. this a revolutionary instrumental great piece. it is 23(!) minutes long, takes an entire LP side. the piece combined guitars, drums, organs and synthy(by the band) and pupms, trombones, violins and choir. quite a genius track, leaded to echoes and many other songs. third, this is the first no.1 album of the band. the other side is not god as the title track but it contained gilmour's fat old sun, and a piece called alan's psychedelic breakfast , three different instrumental pieces combine together plus sounds of boilers and such

in 1971, pink floyd releases one of their best albums, and the best one in the early years-meddle. this album contains two main songs, which are very big classics: the first is the instrumental one of these days, a very good and powerful song.the other is echoes.this one is also 23 minuets long. in this song the band created a rock symphony, including a funk section, guitar and organ effects.my favorite song. the other song are well, but with no inspire.

in 1973, pink floyd releases another album. this album was different. it a theme album. all the song talked about the pressure of modern life. the album name wasthe dark side of the moon. today,25 years after, this is the forth best seller album in history, with over 30,000,000 copies worldwide.this is also pink floyd best seller,of course. absolutely great album with the classics breath, time, great gig in the sky, money, brain damage and many more.thiss is the first album in the term of "the glory years".this is also the album which waters started to take over the band- he wrote all the lyrics.

two years later, comes pink floyd's greatest album-wish you were here. this album is dedicated to syd, and criticises synclinaly the music industry in general. it contains the blues 9 parts song shine on you crazy diamond (my second favorite song) and the melodic title track, two wonderful tributes for syd, and the sarcastic welcome to the machine + have a cigar. beautiful album.

in the year of 1977, pink floyd releases their most unique album- animals, this was a concept album- all the songs' titles was names of animals, each representing another issue. The album theme is against the government and talks about the high society. the album start with the 1:24 minutes songpigs on the wing part I, a nice acoustic song. continues with dogs, pigs, sheep and ends with the 1:24 minutes songpigs on the wing part II .roger wrote all the song solely except "dogs" written by him and dave.

in 1979, the wall was released. this one is the biggest dubble-album seller in history.this theme albumis a sort of a rock opera, tells about a singer named pink floyd, that passes a nervius breakdown during a tour in USA. this is a sort of a autobiograph, based on the real life of roger(who grew old without his father, who died in world war II) and the life of syd.this great album has song like comfortably numb, another brack in the wall ,run like hell, in the flesh, goodbye blue sky and many more.after this great album came a great tour, and after that cam a not-so-great film by alan parker.
albom cover; grade-9
this album was very hard to make. roger's quest in conquire the band began to be very disturbing. he kept on fighting with the others, compet with dave on the lead. after the tour ended, he simply kicked rick out of the band, and even thought to kick nick out. 4 years later came the last straw. roger, dave and nick gathered to record the final cut. roger wrote ALL the songs, and sang all of them, beside not now john , that he sang with dave. he also produced it alone. that album was infact, roger's first solo album. the album itself is nice. the song are infact the wall out-takes. but it id good, with song like the gunner's dream, the hero's return and the title track. this album was the last album of roger with pink floyd, and the last in "the glory years". roger quit the band, after an ugly copyrights trail between him and the rest of pink floyd.

after the tour of that album ended in 1988, the band quit to work togather for 5 years.but in 1993, gilmour, mason & wright joind togather to record the division bell . this one is much better the the last one, and gets closer to "the glory years". it has really good song like what do you want from me, keep talking, take it back, high hopes and more.
