UNDER CONSTRUCTION? You don't know from construction!
Take a trip on your local thoroughfares during the Spring -- now, THAT'S construction!
To be "under construction" would indicate that something was in the process of being built. Well, by virtue of the fact that you're now reading the page in question means the building (or construction) process has been completed.
If this page were "under construction" you'd see nothing here but stupid animated .gifs indicating, in an oh, so early '90s fashion, the obvious lack of content.
We don't need no stinkin' animated .gifs. Instead, we have this ridiculous text disclaimer as a means to appease the HTML-ites who aren't bright enough to know what a blank, white page might mean had we put one here instead.
All we can say is come back often...maybe there'll be a DIFFERENT page here...
Or maybe there won't.
Either way you will bookmark this page because it's the most brilliant piece of literature you've read all day, and then you'll email all your friends and say, "Dude, look what this friggin' moron wrote on his website instead of having an 'under construction' blurb. What do you think it REALLY means?"
These people will then talk about it with other friends and before you know it I will be that guy you reminisce about at the dinner table every Thanksgiving when you go back to Connecticut to visit the family. Others will have copied and saved this HTML document in their hardrives, posted it in newsgroups, ICQ'd it to loved ones. Chat rooms and bulletin boards will spring up, virtually overnight, to discuss this phenomenon and variations on this page's theme will pop up in manuals called
"HTML THAT'S BEYOND DUMMIES".
Curiousity will kill you and day after day you will return to this very spot to see if the text has changed...or images have been added. Millions of curiosity hounds will do the same until the Geocities servers crash and burn like the MIR Space Station on the Fourth Of July.
And it will be then, and only then that the immortal words of a frustrated 'Net surfer will appear:
UNDER CONSTRUCTION
