Band info

In 1984, Dexter and Greg were both on the cross-country team at Pacifica High and with 2 other guys from cross-country they formed a band, Manic Subsidal. Greg and Dexter couldn't play an instrument in the begin, but they learned some songs during the summer.

At the time their guitarist left, Dexter had written a few songs like "Sorority Bitch" and "Very Sarcastic" and they headed to the studio, so Kevin Wasserman (Noodles) could join them. He already graduated from Pacifica High a few years urlier. Ron Welty joined them later when he was 16, because their old drummer was going to medical school and he missed lots of gigs.

The Offspring released their first single in 1987, but they had to paste the front sleves to the backs and stick them together themselves, because they couldn't afford the additional quarter per copy

In 1989, the Offspring got a contract with Nemesis. They found a producer, Thom Wilson and they recorded another 7-inch single, "Baghdad", followed by their debut album "The Offspring". After sending some demo tapes around to several punk labels, they signed to Epitaph and in 1992 they released "Ignition".

In 1994, "Come out and play" made it to the charts and helped their album "Smash" becoming the best selling album of all times. Thanks to the succes of "Smash", the new fans got to know "Ignition" and Dexter re released their first selftiteled album "The Offspring" again, this time with his own label, Nitro.

The fourth album, "Ixnay on the hombre" got released in January 1997. This album wasn't as succesfull as Smash and as everybody tought it would be, but the guys worked hard, they toured a whole year and still with succes.

Also in 1997, Dexter and Jello Biafra started FSU (Freedom Starts Underground or Fuck Shit Up, I don't know wich one is right). The band did shows to raise money for FSU. The money went to organisations like AIDS Project LA, Poor People's United Fund, Trees Foundation and Amnesty International.

Almost 2 years after the release of "Ixnay on the Hombre", the Offspring releases their 5th album, "Americana" in november 1998. The first single from this album is "Pretty fly (for a white guy)" and this song is really making it into the charts. To promote the album, the band will be touring in the states, in Europe and maybe also in the rest of the world
