There's so much going on at the moment with Matchbox Twenty as the days wizz by to the release of the new album. "bent" is available for purchase from any good music store in Australia, and is getting a little air play. The Australian release for Mad Season is May 22nd- that's a whole day before in the US. Matchbox Twenty are supposeldy (I'll check it out) in May Aussie edition of Rolling Stone.
Matchbox20's "Yourself or someone like you" was featu#e3319d in Sydney Triple M's top 500 rock albums at NUMBER 20!! (lol- that's funny MB20, #20... ok, maybe not)
Matchbox Twenty were also on Triple Ms Planet Rock, with an interview that I'll try to type up sometime... and I recieved an email from the DJ Jonesy so say that they should be featuring them more within the next few weeks (YAY!) So listen to them people!
I'll try to write more frequently as the release of Mad Season gets closer.... BYE!

April 15th, 2000

AMENDMENT: Okay boys and girls. It has been brought to my attention that perhaps the information I have on the release dates of "Bent" and "Mad Season" is slightly off form. I saw with my own eyes, that HMV will have the single on April 24th, but on the Warner Australia site the release for "Bent" is May 1st, and subsequently, while HMV said that "Mad Season" saw due out on the 24th of May, Matchbox Twenty say it's out on May 23rd, and Warner say it's out on May 22nd (I'm hoping for the 22nd, which is quite likely/ possible considering it's a Monday... I don't know)
So there you go- I hope I managed to clear up a few things for you.
Peace everyone.

Matchbox20 goes diamond!

Matchbox20 has just been awarded the prestigious
Diamond Award by the Recording Industry Association
of America (RIAA). This means that thanks to all
of our fans, matchbox20 has sold in excess of
10 million albums in the U.S. alone.

As of March 1999 just 62 titles (spanning four
decades of music) qualify for the Diamond Award
including: "Abbey Road," "Dark Side of the
Moon," "Led Zeppelin IV," "Rumours,"
and "The Joshua Tree."

SEPTEMBER 3, 1999

Matchbox20's Rob Thomas will be taking
time out of the studio to join Carlos
Santana on The Tonight Show With
Jay Leno on Friday, September 10th.
They will be performing their #1 hit
"Smooth" which has topped the radio
charts for 9 consecutive weeks.

In case you hadn't heard: Matchbox20 has
been in the studio since mid-August to
start recording their follow-up to
"Yourself Or Someone Like You." Word
from the studio is that everything's smooth
and the band is having a great time.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MAY 25, 1999

BMI'S "SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR" HONORS;
"LIVE FROM AUSTRALIA" HOME VIDEO DUE JUNE 22nd
Rob Thomas, lead singer and songwriter with Lava/Atlantic

Songwriter of the Year" award from the performing rights
organization, BMI. Thomas was recognized for penning three
songs on the year's most-performed songs list, and shares the
"Pop Songwriter of the Year" titles with Mariah Carey,
Shania Twain, and Sarah McLachlan.
The hono#e3319d tracks, "3am," "Real World," and "Push" (which was
also awarded last year for being among 1998's most-performed

##WEDDING BELLS##

Rob an Marisol his fiance have finally set their wedding date! After being postponed from April, the new date is now October 2, 1999, with the wedding taking place in California. Apparently Rob has hired a wedding consultant to plan their perfect wedding personally I'm waiting for the wedding in hope that it'll be in all the magazines....!

Australian matchbox 20 Video

Fear no more Aussies! Word has it that the PPV that all everyone's been going on about might be available by June! But then again, the date was originally March... then April... then May..... About the PPV though- from the preview, it looks like it was the Sydney concert, but then again- there wasn't anything stopping them from wearing the same thing through the whole of the Aussie tour...!

The "next" album

Recording should be taking place...now? Recording should be done before the wedding, and the Album released early 2000.... (fingers crossed!). At the moment Rob is either working on a solo project, or living in New York with Marisol... or both....

Matchbox 20 up against 'The Doors"

Personally I'm a little peeved at this. Matchbox 20 was up against 'The Doors" in a recent Triple M "battle of Rock" weekend. The Doors won-66-34%. I was thinking that it was a little unfairly matched, as the Doors have been around for years, and established a large fan scale... but never mind- I don't care- I casted my vote for the number one rock act ....the Doors... Kidding!!! Matchbox 20

Okay so basically that's it. I have no more news.... because this is a new news section..... so email me if you hear anything that should be up here!
