Humanities Books List:

Ok, for all you folks out there taking Humanities at IHS for the '99-00 year, here's the list of books in order of what we'll be reading this upcoming year:

  • Antigone - Sophocles
  • Oedipus the King - Sophocles
  • Lysistrata - Aristophanes
  • Aeneid - Vergil (Mentor Edition)
  • Confessions of St. Augustine - St. Augustine (Mentor Edition)
  • Book of Job - The Bible
  • Canterbury Tales - Chaucer (Modern English translation -- Penguin edition preferred)
  • Inferno - Dante (Mentor Edition translated by John Ciardi)
  • The Prince - Machiavelli
  • A Man of All Seasons - Robert Bolt (A Play)
  • Sonnets - Shakespeare
  • Mackbeth - Shakespeare
  • Hamlet - Shakespeare

        So basically these are the books we're to read, and they suggest we get them at used places such as Robert's Bookstore down near San Jose State... I'd do it, otherwise it'll be pretty expensive...
