Parents
Nigel's mum used to played the piano. However, she finds this difficult now due to artritis. His dad, Kenneth, was a big influence
on Nigel. Ken suffered a heart attack while Bush was recording
Sixteen Stone with Alan Winstanley and Clive Langer. Nigel
stayed with Mum for two weeks after and then returned to work.
This was a tragic time for Nigel. Bush dedicated the album to
Nigel's dad. "I hate to think about the first album because it
was the most miserable fucking thing that ever happened to me." Nigel said in a magazine interview.
Marriage
Nigel married his long time girlfriend, Judith Rose, on 20 July, 1996.
This summer they will celebrate their third wedding anniversary. Judith is an artist. She was the talented and lucky one to do
the custom paint job on Nigel's blue Fender stratocaster.
Nigel's hair (or lack of)
Nigel actually chose to shave his head once he started to lose his
hair. He feels dying it a lot when he was younger, contributed to his early hair loss. He hates
shampoo questions, but it's human nature to wonder. Although he's bald; Nigel's got one of the madest goatees.
Bands Before Bush
Before his big break in Bush, well Gavin's and Robin's and Dave's
big break as well, Nigel was in King's Blank, which eventually
became the Ian Lowery Band. When he and Gavin met they formed
Future Primitive. Future Primitive released a 7" vinyl, Bomb.
Nigel said its the record version of "Bomb" with "Bud" as the b-side.
It wasn't an official release, that makes it hard to find, although he knows of a couple copies floating around. Bush thought Sixteen Stone's release was going to be delayed, so they put out Bomb
