SPICEWORLD IN TURMOIL OVER GERI
Spice Girls Mel C and Emma Bunton have
revealed how dramatically their opinions
differ over collecting a Brit with
departed member GeriHalliwell.
The girls will be presented with a Lifetime
Achievement award at next Friday's ceremony,
but Geri, who was integral in the band's original
chart breakthrough, will not appear on stage.
Mel C said she wanted Geri to join them in
accepting the prize, however Emma's opinion
was the exact opposite.
Speaking to Radio One, Mel C explained: 'I firmly
believe that she should be up there with us. But
there's five girls, y'know, who have to make
that decision. And that's just, y'know, that's
just my opinion,' she said.
However, Emma said she believed the band had
changed since Geri left and were now a
different band. 'Obviously the five of us were in
the Spice Girls but we have sort of moved on.'
'And we did an American tour and, y'know,
we've done another single and had a Christmas
Number One. So I think we have moved on now
and become a four-piece,' explained Emma.

SPICE GIRLS LOSE COURT CASE
The Spice Girls have lost a High Court case bought
by an Italian motorcycle company.
The band now face a bill of up to £1 million, after
the judge, Justice Arden found for Aprilla World
Service.
However, the news hasn't exactly stunned the
girls, with Mel C seemingly not bothered by the
loss of the money.
She told Radio One: 'We really don't care. At
the end of the day, we are in the right. We did
not know Geri was going to leave. Hey ho, life
goes on.'
Aprilla struck a deal with the girls in 1997 to
manufacture a motor scooter – the Sonic Spice
– which would feature all five members in the
design.
However, when Geri Halliwell announced her
departure from the Spice Girls, the scooter
became a 'total marketing flop', the court was
told.
Both Geri and Emma Bunton appeared to give
evidence in the case, with Geri claiming her
departure from the Spice Girls was 'like leaving
a marriage'.
Aprilla has been awarded £434,000 in damages
and court costs, although the figure is expected
to eventually rise to as much as £1 million.

Posh Spice Struts Her Stuff Down London Catwalk
LONDON (Reuters) - Victoria ``Posh Spice'' Beckham added
modeling to her career list on Wednesday when she
paraded down the catwalk as part of Maria Grachvogel's autumn/winter 2000 show at London's Fashion Week.
Beckham, already famous for the sleek outfits
she wears on stage with the Spice Girls, sashayed
along the runway in tight green satin hotpants
and a sleeveless embroidered polo neck.
Showing off a well-worked body, she returned
to the catwalk in a red evening gown cut to
hip level at the front but trailing along the
floor at the back.
Beckham has come under press criticism for quickly
regaining her ultra-slim figure after the
birth of her son Brooklyn last year but has denied
reports of anorexia.

Geri Halliwell Friendship Never Ends? © TOTP
The break in good relations between members of the
original five Spice Girls is getting more bizarre by the
day! News has reached us that Mel B is extremely cross
with Mel C for the heinous crime of chatting backstage
with former Spice mate Geri Halliwell! The background
to all this pop star petulance is that Mel B has
vehemently refused to take to the stage to recieve her
Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution To British Music
as part of the fab five. Geri has been invited out of
recognition for her guiding role in the Spice
phenomenon, which has put Mel's nose out of joint. The
pair are rumoured to have not spoken at all since Geri
left the band in 1998. Mel C bumped into Geri at a
charity concert in Manchester last week and the pair
opted to bury the hatchet, rather than stand about and
pout all night. This new alliance has clearly irked Mel B
even more, and she has apparently had a couple of
heated discussions with Mel C about Geri. Whatever
happened to "Friendship lasts forever", girls?

Melanie B Danielle Get's Baby!?!© TOTP
With absolutely no pleasure whatsoever, we bring more
news of bad tidings for Jimmy Gulzar, the former hubby
of Scary Spice Mel B. After being refused a gold credit
card last week, it seems that relations between Mel and
Jimmy have reached such a low that Mel's sister
Danielle has had to mediate and deliver baby Phoenix
to see her dad. Mind you, the papers also report that
Mel has given Jimmy up to £60,000 as part of their
ongoing divorce negotiations, so they can't get on that
badly, eh? Jimmy has also run into trouble with the
Spanish authorities after chasing a paparazzi
photographer. Jimmy is said to have over-aggressively
tackled the snapper and broken his camera, which could
result in a warrant being issued for his arrest the next
time he sets foot in Spain. TOTP News would like to
offer a word of advice for unlucky Jim. Next Friday 13th,
hide Jim ..

SPICEY WITNESSES ~DotMusic
The Spice Girls and famous Italian scooter manufacturer
Aprilia are battling in court over a sponsorship deal
that both claim went sour.
The amazing case began yesterday (February 7) against
all original five members of the band and Emma Bunton
and Geri Halliwell are expected to appear in the
witness box this week.
In its sponsorship deal with the Spices, Aprilia
manufactured a limited edition of its Sonic
scooter called the Spice Sonic, a 50cc bike with
pictures of all the original five Spice Girls on it.
The deal included sponsoring the Spice's 1998
Spice World Tour.
The scooter firm claims all its publicity was
centred around the original five girl group. It
was dismayed when Geri Halliwell left to go
solo in May 1998, and although the company
went ahead with the tour sponsorship, it
withheld some of the money. The Spice Girls'
own company, Spice Girls Ltd, is suing Aprilia for
the £212,500 it claims is still owed to the girls.
In a counter claim, Aprilia said it had no idea
Halliwell was intending to leave but claims that
the other Spice's were aware of her intentions.
The company launched its own action after
revelations in Geri Halliwell's book 'If Only',
published last October.
Aprilia's lawyer Andrew Sutcliffe said in court
that, according to her book, Geri admitted the
other Spice Girls knew she would be leaving the
group before the sponsorship deal was signed.
Aprilia viewed the girls' actions as breach of
conduct and launched its own counter claim for
£350,000 plus £1.1 million in lost profits on the
customised scooters.
Halliwell is expected to be asked some difficult
questions in court about her decision to leave
the girl band.
Aprilia arranged the Spice Sonic sponsorship
deal because of the band's popularity with
young girls and because in Italy and in some
other European countries it is legal for
teenagers as young as 14 to ride scooters.

TALES OF A MEL C IMPOSTER!
What's all this then ?! Imposter at
large ! - C'mon hands up - who's the
culprit. Right listen up.....there's a
few cheeky wotsits out there who
have been pretending to be me (how
could you !) I was busy doing some
promotion in Belgium for Northern
Star and I bumped into a few fans.
Andddddd they told me that they
had been sending me e-mails and I
had been e-mailing them back !
Well, I have to be honest and the
only way I talk to everyone is via the
spice office and this website and
telling them what I have been up to.
Sooooooooo for the record I have not
been e-mailing anybody so steer
clear of anybody pretending to be
me. 'Cause it isn't. Hope you are all
well. Belgium is fab and I have
already made loads of new friends
over here.

MEGA NEWSFLASH!!
The Spice Girls will be presented
with a special 2000 Brits Award for
Outstanding Music Contribution to
British Music at the Brit Awards on
the March 3rd.
The utterly fab four will also be
performing a megamix of their
greatest hits live onstage when they
close the show at the Earls Court
Arena in London on March 3rd. The
Spices have broken every single
record going and are famous all over
the world. Remember "Wannabe"?!
Their debut single went to Number 1
in 31 different countries! Both of their
albums have been world wide
smashes not to mention all their
individual solo achievements! They
have sold over 36 million albums -
swoon. A dazzling record second to
none.
The Spice Girls themselves are both
honoured and thrilled to receive such
a sought after award. "We are
overjoyed to have been asked to
accept this award. It is an honour to
follow in the footsteps of artists like
The Eurythmics, Fleetwood Mac and
the Bee Gees. We are still young
and have, we hope, many more
years to enjoy being a part of the
great British music scene.
"Spice Girls started out as 5 and we
feel this award is in recognition of
the great achievements of all 5. The
remaining four of us look forward to
many new adventures. Our
relationship with the Brit Awards has
held great significance in our career
and we are looking forward to
another memorable SPICE
performance on this year's show".
Wow and double wow!! Here ends
the Mega Newsflash.

NEWS FROM MELANIE C:
Anyway back in Britain , the new single from
my album Northern Star is coming out on the
6th March. I am so thrilled with the success
of the album that I will even be releasing a
fourth single later in the year. Anyway about
the next single! It is going to be called
"Never Be The Same Again" and I wrote the track
with the incredibly talented pair, Rhett
Lawrence and Paul F Cruz. Also because Rhett
had previously worked with TLCs Lisa 'Left
Eye' Lopes we asked her to do a solo rap
section which is totally fab.
There will be 2 cds for the single. On the
first one there is a radio version of
"Never Be The Same Again" and a mix from
Lisa. Also if you whop the cd in your
computer and you can play the video from it.
(I'll tell you more about that in a minute).
Finally there is a Rick Rubin mix of a totally
brand new track "I Wonder What It Would Be Like",
which I am really excited about.
On the second single you get the full
album version of "Never Be The Same Again"
as well as 2 live tracks. I played the
Paradiso Club last year and because it was
so much fun we have used "Closer" and "Goin Down"
from there.

SPORTY SPICE WALKS-OUT OF STERN'S SEXUAL INQUISITION
Spice Girl Mel C walked-out of an interview with US
shock-jock Howard Stern last week, after she was
bombarded with graphic questions about her sex life.
Sporty Spice, who was attending the American
Music Awards, was met with a no-holds-barred first
question, when Stern asked: 'At what age did you get pubes?'
Stern followed that innocuous opening gambit
with another storming poser, namely: 'Where's
the best place to pleasure yourself?'
Mel managed to recover from the initial bombardment by responding
no to the following questions: 'Have you ever had a lesbian
experience?' and 'Have you ever slept with a black guy?'
But she drew the line and promptly walked-off
when Stern inquired: 'Is penis size important?'

Melanie .C. @ The AMA Awards (BBC)
Among the celebrities dishing out awards was Mel.C. She
admitted juggling her solo career with her Spice Girls
projects is proving difficult:"This year I'm gonna be
devoting all my attention to my solo record and so I'm
gonna do it justice," she said. "I'm gonna be out on
the road touring Europe, South East Asia, and the
Beautiful United States Of America!" So How are things
with Scary?: "All I know is Melanie's fine, the baby's
fine, and it's all very happy and amicable. You know
S*** happens, that got me out of that one didn't it!"
she laughed.

GERI SET FOR SHOWDOWN WITH MEL C
The Music For Life Concert which takes place at the Manchester
Arena later in the month will see former Spice Girl, Geri
Halliwell, take to the stage on the same evening as former
bandmate and arch rival Mel C. But, hey, Geri's headlining.
Mel C has been an outspoken critic of Geri Halliwell since
the one-time 'Ginger Spice' left the band at the height of
their success. Now they are to share the same bill, though it is
thought that they will perform on separate stages.
A spokesman for Geri took pleasure in pointing out: "It's
not as if they will be on stage together. Geri is headlining
the show and Mel C is opening it."

MIKE TYSON FLOORS MEL B IN SHOPPING FIGHT
Mel B was miffed to find herself barred from her favourite Gucci
shop yesterday because boxer Mike Tyson got there first.
Scary Spice arrived outside the Gucci shop in London in her
silver Mercedes only to find that it had been closed for
Mike Tyson and his entourage to do a spot of private shopping.
Mel B was turned away by one of Tyson's security heavies at
the shop door in front of a crowd of press and the boxer's
fans. Mel looked furious but gave up the fight and returned
to her chauffer-driven car and left the scene.
Gucci said that Mel B is a regular customer of the shop and
she would have been let in if the shop had know she was outside.

Message From Melanie C From VirginRecords.
It's all go again with the new single
coming out. It's called "Never Be the
Same Again" and will be out at the
start of March. TLCs Lisa Lopes
does a sound rap on it. What's more
there's a new track on there also
called "I Wonder What It Would Be
Like". I will be touring again later as
the first one went down so well.
Byeeeeeeeeeeee. Then of course
there is the next Spice album which
we have nearly finished. We may
well tour later in the year when we
release it. Phew!
