Lara ran through the opening dance steps in her head, before counting herself in ‘5, 6, 7, 8' and ‘1, 2, 3, 4'. She moved through the dance she had choreographed with ease. It was to a song Alison had written called Moving On. The girls loved the song and the dance, and they would be performing it tonight for the first time.
"Hey!" Fatima Robinson called as she walked in on Lara. "Cute dance!"
Lara kept dancing and motioned to the back of her shirt. It read: Don't bother me, I'm dancing! Fatima laughed and walked over to the cd player. The song ended and Fatima popped in Backstreet's Back.
"Well, I guess I'm outta here! See ya!" Lara called, realizing her practice time was over.
"Wait a sec," Fatima told her. "I want to get your opinion on something . . ."
Lara nodded. "Okay, what is it?"
"I've been choreographing part of Set Adrift On Memory Bliss. The guys like it, but I'd like your opinion." Fatima replied. She pulled her long black, braided hair into a loose pony tail.
The music started and Fatima began to dance. Lara watched her dance with a critic's eye, counting along with her.
"Okay, that's it!" Fatima finished.
"Wow, short routine!" Lara commented. "I like it. I mean, what can I say, you're an amazing choreographer. The pip kick seemed a little off beat to me, but I don't know - I basically think you should go with it."
Fatima smiled. "Thanks, that's great!"
Just then, the door opened and Brian, Nick and A.J. walked in.
"Hey guys!" Fatima called. "Just start warming up."
Lara starred at them, not knowing what to say. Brian gave her a funny look and walked to the other side of the room. Lara's face gradually began turning a dark shade of crimson.
"See ya Fatima!" Lara called to the fab choreographer, and headed out the door.
"Andrew, I'm sorry! What else can I say? You know, it is actually kind of funny when you think about it . . ." Grace told her room mate. She had been following him around apologizing all morning.
"How could you be so irresponsible? Running around like that at three am? Do you have any idea what would have happened to you if you had been caught? You would have been off the tour, Grace! If my girlfriend found out? I'd be dead Grace!" Andrew replied harshly.
"We are responsible for our own actions, Andrew," Grace argued curtly. "I said I was sorry and I meant it. It's up to you if you want to accept my apology or not."
"Alright, I accept your apology, but just give me a little warning if your going to do something like that next time!" He sighed, exasperated.
"Sure thing Andrew."Grace winked. "I gotta go, I've got a meeting with the security at the concert tonight. I get to treat all the girls who faint from giving intense adulation!"
With that, she hurried out the door. Andrew shook his head. He definitely was going to become friends with this girl. He grabbed his bag and hurried off to his dance practice.
~Later on that afternoon~
"Sound check. Testing - one - two - three. Hey guys, this mike sounds a little fuzzy to me. Can you clear that up?" Kevin requested of the operations staff. The workers milled around, testing the equipment and discussing possible problems.
Kevin turned back to the other guys. "So, you were going to tell me about what happened last night?"
Nick winced. "Well . . . I guess . . . Uhg."
"They were . . . uh . . . . we . . . Uhg." A.J. added.
"We came to talk to you about the girls, you kicked us out of your room, we forgot our room keys, the girls decided to go streaking, came running near naked down the hall, we pounded harder on your door, they screamed, woke Johnny up, they ran away into Grace's room, we ran into the Coke machine room, Nick found his key, we killed Nick, Nick came back from the dead - The End!" Howie informed Kevin as quickly as possible without once pausing to take a breath.
Kevin's eyebrows shot up. "They were streaking? Hmm, I would have liked to see that."
"Kevin!" Brian was shocked.
Kevin shrugged. He glanced at his watch. "Oh! We're outta here guys. We've got an interview with Energy Radio at 2:30 pm."
The guys finished the sound check and headed off to their meeting.
"You don't own me, la, la, la, la, la, da, da, da . . ." Cora hummed to herself. She looked up to see the guys walking down the hall.
"Shit," Cora thought to herself. Instead, she gave the guys a pleasant smile and said: "Hey guys! See ya tonight!"
Nick gave her a wide grin. "See ya then!"
Cora winced and opened her hotel room door.
Nova sat in Cora's room eating bagels and cream cheese and discussing the show tonight.
"So we have to come on from different points on stage, right?" Lara asked. "Do they know that?"
"Yeah," Victoria nodded. "I talked to Donna and she told me it was all arranged."
‘You're the best Vic," Alison complimented.
"No, Donna's the best," Victoria replied, biting off a large chunk of bagel.
"Do you guys like Grace?" Cora asked out of nowhere.
"Like yeah! Of course! She's way nice!" Lara told her.
"I like her, but what the hell does that have to do with the show tonight?" Victoria wondered.
Cora shrugged. "Nothing, I guess. I really like her and I just wanted to make sure you guys did too." She paused to lick some cream cheese of her finger. " Do you think the guys will remember last night?"
Alison gave Cora an incredulous look. "I'm pretty sure that no one's forgetting. It's probably been permanently etched in their memories!"
"I'm so glad Kevin wasn't there," Victoria sighed. "Anyway . . . getting back to the show tonight!"
