Things Not As Nice

Chapter Fourteen - Things Not As Nice

Cora walked up to Nick. Cora slugged Nick. Nick's head whipped back and nearly hit the wall. Nick screamed: "What the hell?" Cora walked away.

"Howie - How could you?" Grace asked sadly.

A look of concern crossed over Howie's face. "How could I what?"

Grace rolled her eyes emphatically. She had come to see Howie in his room, but was still standing outside the door. She wasn't quite sure how to approach this.

"Send that cake?" Grace added to her question.

Howie's eyebrows creased.. "What cake? I didn't send a cake! Did someone send you a cake?"

Grace's face darkened. "You didn't send the cake?"

Howie smiled innocently and shook his head.

"You have no idea what I'm talking about?" Grace asked him.

Howie continued to shake his head.

"We're so sorry we saw you naked . . . ?" Grace elaborated.

"Well, yes - I am sorry that we embarrassed you. But we really didn't see that much - uh, I think you were wearing some clothing - right? And it wasn't like we planned - "

"No, no, no," Grace interrupted quickly. "The cake that said ‘We're so sorry we saw you naked'?"

Howie's face lit up with surprise. "Someone sent you a cake that said ‘We're so sorry we saw you naked'? That's not very nice . . . but it is pretty funny. Although I had nothing to do with it!"

Grace looked him over suspiciously.

"Scouts honour!" Howie told her, saluting.

"Okay," Grace smiled. She kissed him softly on the cheek. "See ya later love of my life!" With that, Grace went back to her room for sleep.

Brian and A.J. continued to sign autographs to the few fans that had found their way into the hotel lobby. A giddy fourteen-year-old with big brown eyes requested a kiss from Brian. He complied, as always. A.J. glanced at his watch. It was late and almost time to get outta here. He loved his fans, but sometimes he needed sleep. Nearby, two large males and one stout female discussed the time. It was time to go.

As the group said their good-byes, they hurried away to the elevator. As soon as the door closed, Brian gave a sigh of relief and collapsed against the wall.

"Tired Bri?" A.J. laughed.

Brian let out a couple of fake snores.

They soon arrived at their floor and the elevator doors opened. There stood Alison and Lara. The girls gasped when they saw the guys. Brian and A.J.'s eyes widened. As the girls faces darkened, the boys knew they were in trouble.

Unfortunately for them, they did the wrong thing. The correct thing for Brian and A.J. to do, would have been to get down on their knees and beg for forgiveness, but that is not at all what they did. What they did do was begin to laugh. It started with a small smile from Brian, then a chuckle from A.J., then they began to laugh hard.

Alison and Lara stared at them disbelievingly. Lara made the first move as anger swished through her veins. "You ass hole! You son of a bitch!" She cried.

Their laughter ceased. Brian looked up at her, startled by her harsh words.

Alison glanced down at what she was holding. She had been drinking a wine glass full of Perrier water and ice. She tossed the contents at A.J.

A.J.'s face was one of absolute shock and wetness. He began to stutter. "It was just, a, a, a, j- joke!" He sputtered.

"I don't like you! I don't like you at all!" Alison nearly yelled. With that, the girls turned on their heels and hurried back to their rooms.

"Why we're we going down to the lobby?" Alison asked as they headed back to their rooms.

"To get something cold to eat - like ice cream or something!" Lara snapped. "But I'm not hungry for anything cold anymore!"

"I think we've already had our fill of a dish of cold revenge," Alison nodded.

Lara glared at her as she slid the credit card like key into the key slot. "Save the poems, Al!" She told her friend harshly. On that note, she disappeared inside her room.
